My car has 60k miles on it. I have two lights on my dash. I took my car in and was told it was the brake actuator. I seen several recalls on this but the Corolla is not listed???? I called Toyota customer solutions who told me that it would be for me to cover. I find this very frustrating that one a car that has 60k miles that this is an issue. Not to mention the price of the part I was given $3600!!!!.
Failure of the abs brake controller caused 3 lights on the dash to intermittently light (abs, traction & brake) during all driving conditions. Sometimes the brake light would be off while the abs & traction lights were on, and other times all three lights would be off. A computer scan discovered a short in the abs brake controller.
I came to an intersection and stopped, then took my foot off the brake before noticing that the light was still red. The other vehicle was roughly 30 feet away when I pushed on the brakes. I should have easily been able to stop. Brakes did not engage and I had been pushing them so hard and for so long that I fractured my ankle. There were not even skid marks at the accident scene. My car had front end frame damage from the accident (totaled), and the airbags never deployed. Additionally, in the past I had noticed the rpms rising for no reason while car was idling, and the acceleration issue, where the vehicle seemed to “hang” between speeds of about 35 and 40 and 60 and 65mph. The rpms I only noticed once-so I did not report it, and the “hanging” was my own ignorance (I haven’t had a 4 cylinder in a long time and this was my first—and probably last—Toyota). I also had prior braking concerns-- abs only made a noise (did not vibrate against pedal--again, my ignorance of how this vehicle was supposed to respond) and it was a very icy winter, so I assumed that I had been trying to stop on ice. The brakes behaved fine if I physically pumped them, but sudden stops could not be made.
My service engine came on took to dealership they said my coolant bypass valve no good and iam always have to change out my brake pads on the front.
Car jerks to the left on left curves above 30 mph and when going over bumps, this happens with drive assist features both enabled and disabled. On braking the car stutters. Oscillating sound heard from right front side.
The contact's mother owns a 2006 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated while reversing out of a parking space and as she shifted the vehicle into drive at approximately 1 mph, the vehicle surged forward. The contact's mother lost control of the vehicle and hit several cars and then hit a curb and turned the vehicle ignition off. The contact's mother stated she had no brakes. The vehicle was damaged on the hood the bumper and both lights. The contact received bruises to her left and right legs by the knees and both wrists were bruised. Additionally the contact had pain in her left and right shoulders. The contact did not seek medical attention. The other vehicles were not occupied. The contact stated she did not notice any warning lights were illuminated. The police were on scene and wrote a report. The contact's mother had the vehicle towed to her residence and then later towed to a dealer. The dealer did not inspect the vehicle, however the manufacturer had an independent mechanic inspect the vehicle brakes. The mechanic determined that there were no mechanical problems with the brakes. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.
Shifter cable broke off and the car was not able to brake/stop. Had it towed and doral Toyota reinstall shifter cable assy on. 09/03/2021. If you need it have the invoice and proof of payment, too. This is a huge safety risk! cable assy transmission broke off. Vehicle will not stop. Had it towed and doral Toyota order parts and performed the labor on 04/08/2015. Have the invoice and proof the payment, too. This has happed to this vehicle twice and there is no recall(?).
Tl- the contact owns a 2001 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that the abs sensor illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was to be inspected, diagnosed and repaired by an authorized dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 107,900. Dyd.
front braking system. had to replace front brake pads at 25600 and 42200 miles. rear pads do not seem to be wearing at all, indicating proportion valve problem or poor design. toyota dealer just shrugs shoulders.*ak
i noticed that toyota only recall 2009/2010 corolla. but my corolla had fatal problem on 2001 model, and crashed on 2004/03. on highway 680 on 03/19/2004, dove as normal speed. the cars in front of me were far away, maybe about 200 meters. there is no car was closely aside of my lane. i didn't step brake or try change lane, just kept the lane and speed as normal. suddenly, the steering wheel out of control. it rushed to right, then left, then right, left, i tried very hard but couldn't control the steering. at the first second when i noticed the car went wrong direction, i stepped the brake as hard as i could, no use. steering and brake were out of control. the car hit the barrier wall with high speed, rolling over and over. milpitas or san jose chp was on site, and had a accident report. the car was total damaged, my head got hit and start bleeding inside but didn't check it out after accident. 2 months later i had a head surgery to stop the bleeding inside and took out a big chunk of blood. after years, till today, i am still suffered by the head wounds/hit. but the recall is only for 2009/2010 model, leave so many drivers still in dangerous situation. *tr
