A "worn primary timing chain" is common and a costly failure with the 3.6 EcoBoost pre-Oct 2014. Ford knows about it, has a TSB (17-0026) released to fix it but only if you still have warranty left on your vehicle. Call to Ford for assistance were scripted to the negative.A recommendation to me is to have it fixed and recover costs in small claims court.
truck loses power and shudders while trying to pass other cars at highway speed. very dangerous situation for all involved. check engine light comes on and flashes for 30sec, then goes out. manual advises to drive without accelerating or braking quickly and to see dealer. did this next morning only to be told no codes or idea what it was. BS if they won`t fix it, when people start turning up dead, maybe this will help make them fix it.
2014 Ford F150, bought the truck on Jan. 21, on Feb 13, three weeks after purchase, the #6 connecting rod broke and destroyed the motor with only 545 miles. I haven't even made the first payment. I have been driving Fords my hole life and this will probably be the last. The dealer has been jerking me around for 5 days. They want to put a new motor in and I want a new truck. Seems to me if something breaks because of a manufacturing defect 3 weeks into ownership it should be replaced.....
This has happened twice, had at the dealer twice, 2nd time had it towed there. Dealer says nothing shows on the computer and can't duplicate the situation. I paid a lot of money for this truck and want the problem fixed,Dealer will not check anything like sensors or oil pump because nothing shows on the computer. Under the lemon law they basically have 3 strikes and they are at two. Should have bought the GMC Truck I was looking at. Ford/Dealer needs to step up and really get into this problem or 3 strikes and your out!!!
click to see larger images On Friday, August 2, 2018, I visited Five-Star Ford-Lincoln, 900 Russell Parkway, Warner Robins, Georgia and showed the Service Advisor, Katie Reynolds (very professional) where my chrome passengers' rear door handle was peeling. My 2014 Ford F-150 has 34,150 miles on it and I had the vehicle for 39 months (outside of the 36 months or 36,000 miles warranty). This vehicle was purchased April 2015. Katie stated the estimated costs to repair the door handle will be $300. We looked at the other chrome door handles and we noticed how soft the chrome was. It is just a matter of time before the other door handles will peel.I have a 1998 Toyota Four-Runner and a 2001 Toyota Camry and my door handles are not peeling. I can see replacing a door handle over time but a door handle cover should not be peeling. Ford did not do a very good job in manufacturing the chrome cover door handles. I think Ford should replace my door handles with better quality door handles. Leroy Gee
The stereo has become pretty much intolerable. This is an on-going, issue since the 1st days of owning the truck but has recently become more and more an issue to the point it is unbearable to listen to. Here’s some of the history:Complaint: Volumes on radio sporadically changing, front speakers crackling and no volume from the rear speakers. Ghost in machine type behaviours. When on a call the sound transfers to different speakersCause: 18806 CC42 Performed “Pinpoint Teast K” Confirmed rear audio not working, front speakers crackling. Resolution: Replace ACM and verified repair - AUTH CODE: 006855Complaint: Right driver side speaker keeps cutting out at low speeds/low volume Resolution: Diagnosed and replaced APIM module – AUTH CODE: 18223Complaint: Same complaints with stereo, specifically right passenger door cutting out and static. Resolution: Replaced the speaker with me absorbing the cost though the stereo system has never been fixed.Currently the stereo system is functioning so poorly the truck is almost torture to drive. There is static in the speakers, the left from channel cuts in and out and the speed compensated volume works only sometimes. Looking back I don’t believe this stereo has ever really worked constantly but when it is fully operational, it sounds amazing. Here’s a puzzler…. My SiriusXM subscription was canceled twice because my vehicle was reported sold!!! The stereo unit from my truck must have been put into another vehicle, which leads me to believe my unit was merely swapped and not replaced???? This means Ford knows replacing the ACM unit was not the problem!!!!!Ford Canada has declined further assistance
Since we purchased this truck the brakes have squealed, we have taken it to the dealer for all maintenance, and a few times for the squeal alone. Every time we have been to the dealer since we purchased the truck new, we have asked them about the brakes, they said they are fine they have brake dust on the but look fine. They continue to squeal loud. Took the truck in because it's about to turn over to 36000 miles. They said my brakes needed to be replaced. COME ON! They said it's not covered under the warranty its wear and tear. At 36k miles? I WANT FORD TO ADDRESS THIS SITUATION SINCE I JUST TOOK IT IN IN MAY, AND THEY SAID THEY WERE FINE....!!!!!
