🇺🇸 chevrolet silverado 2020 [Engine] Defect age: 1

I was driving up a hill at approx. 5 miles an hour, with coworker in vehicle. The transmission could not find a gear and the vehicle lost momentum and rolled backwards down the hill. I had to slam on my breaks before I hit another vehicle. We were at kaiser hospital assisting with the cooling towers of the hospital. I had to turn the vehicle off and then on, and slow make my way to the parking area. My coworker was extremely worried and felt the vehicle was unsafe, as did I. This problem has happened several times.

Once again this truck has the stabilitrac light oand the engine light on. It is running EXTREMELY rough. Gas mileage is HORRIBLE. It's using extreme amounts of oil. And it is lurching forward at random times when I stop with my foot on the brake. THIS NEEDS TO GET FIXED!!!!! Why can't GM own up to it's problems and fix them? I've spent a thousands on two different Chevrolet trucks since 2014...so much that I spent ALL my savings repairing my vehicles that I have zero in savings now. Pretty pathetic that a school teacher has to work two jobs to pay for keep a vehicle running that should run fine. I've read complaints of this same problem from MANY PEOPLE dating back years. FIX MY TRUCK!!?

Stabilitrac light and engine light came on while driving and was running extremely rough. This is the third time this has happened since I bought the truck in Oct. 2018. Chevrolet trucks are causing me to lose confidence in GM products. This is ridiculous. I'm a single woman who is a school teacher and I can't keep calling in because of a broken down vehicle or having to keep paying mechanics. This truck has been in the shop 4times already since Jan 2019.

The stabilitrac light comes on, then the check engine light and it was running extremely rough and terrible gas mileage. This started suddenly driving down the road. I took it to the mechanic to fix but it had stopped so no fix. I have only this vehicle so I need a reliable vehicle to get to work and to pull my horse trailer.

Have owned GM products since 1970. It now comes to an end. Guess they got their money out of me. We are talking about a 2011 rear wheel drive 5.3L Silverado. On return trip from Fl. engine died, jerked, vibrated as I was pulling into my last stop on the trip. Being only 4 miles from where I bought it, took it there the next day. Service guys informed me they have seen this problem before and just to finish your trip. It was fine until I got it home. Bad news....lifters on the left side of the engine made a huge racket. This is the 4 to 8 cylinder engine and the oil manifold was loose and no oil was getting to the lifters. $1980 later I have a truck that isn't making any noise but am concerned about the right side of the engine now. Corporate did not want to do anything as it was out of warranty. I have since seen this same problem reported by many other Silverado owners. Also, I owned a GMC Safari in the past and that engine lost all its oil. Where did go? No one could tell me. That required a rebuilt engine. No help from GMC on that one either. Just out of warranty. So, done with GM products...and I was seriously looking at their new Colorado. Too bad...not biting. I understand Ford is coming back with their Ranger. Looking to down size from a full pickup. Maybe Ford.

Every time I take it back to the dealership where it was purchased, they reset the check engine light and within 24 hours, it comes back on. They said they have done the engine check and everything is ok. I took it to a separate repair shop and they could not find the "leak" either that would be why the engine light keeps coming back on. They reset it also and within 24 hours, it is back on. Surprisingly, the check engine light has not blown out! My worry is that when I really have a problem, I will not know. Otherwise, I love my Chevy Silverado!!

Bought a new 2009 silverado with 34 miles on it. It has burned oil from the start. I was told it was normal break in consumption. It has 36,000 miles and after the regular dealership oil change from a new dealership this time I brought it back to them after 1500 miles because of the normal engine ticking and they checked the oil and said it was 3.5 quarts low. We are doing the test now. They installed a splash guard and soaked rods to remove build up. I was never told how bad the oil problem was by the dealerships and had to put oil in constantly. There is a major problem with this engine if it is constantly low on oil damage must be happening to the life of the engine.

I was at a stop light with my foot on the brake and all of a sudden the RPM gauge jumped up to 3000 and the truck jumped forward and I hit the guy in front of me. I had 2 kids wife and sister in-law with me. I have been noticing while gearing down the rpms will jump up to the next rpm range while slowing down and down shifting hard.

The Chevrolet dealer analyzed the engine noise and thought it was the AC compressor bearing - after cutting the belt driving this compressor the noise remained. The next diagnosis from the Chevy dealer was that it might be a camshaft problem serious enough to warrant replacement of engine - their estimate was $8500 to replace. Another mechanic looked at the engine and agreed that the camshaft was making the noise - the estimate to replace the camshaft was $3100. After disassembly of the engine, he found that the camshaft had bowed and wore down the bearings enough to put metal shavings in the engine. He replaced the engine with a re-manufactured engine for a cost of approximately $6500 (parts and labor). My biggest complaint is that I had a 7 year , 100,000 mile warranty on this truck that expired in June, 2016 and the Chevrolet dealer would not consider sharing the cost of replacement. The 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 5.3L crew cab truck is now running great - no thanks to the Chevy dealer!
