After leaving truck sitting for several days without being driven, the battery would be so flat that it appeared to be disconnected. I noticed this always seemed to coincide with a red status light on the OnStar system. After this happened several times, I took the truck to the dealership and asked them to update all computer software. This appeared to fix problem (it has not happened since).
Out of the blue all of the systems in my 2004 Chevy Tahoe went crazy the locks opened and closed the A/C would stop blowing cold as if the compressor was disengaged the stability system was disabled the traction control would turn off the engine light would come on and the reduced power message would flash across the display, and then the truck would die. This would only happen if I hit a bump in the road. If I turn off the ignition let the truck sit for a min and then start it up, it would run fine until I hit another bump and then everything would go nuts again.
After replacing my engine due to cracked Castech heads at just over 100,000 miles, I thought I would have smooth sailing for a while with my Tahoe. Wrong! When merging onto the highway one day, the transmission slipped badly on the 2-3 shift, causing the tachometer to briefly hit the rev limiter. I had never towed anything major with the Tahoe (just a utility trailer), the transmission fluid had been changed every 50k miles, and I had experienced no prior issues with the transmission whatsoever until that point. I was hoping it was an anomaly but it started happening more frequently as the weeks went by. I did some Internet research and found this to be a relatively common issue (search for 4L60E 2-3 shift flare if you don't believe me). I took it to a reputable local transmission shop and had it rebuilt. The problem was solved and the wallet was much lighter (once again).
bought a Tahoe in 5-6-2004, in 6-11-05 transmission slipping.they said they could not see the problem if it continues, bring it back. its been back several times.nothing they say.the last time was 7-3-08 has app to have looked a got there bentley in Florence said he could not touch it cause of the miles this time. left got on the road and transmission went out. had to toe and had a third party fix and i paid for it. gm will not help bently wont help
transmission has no 3rd and 4th gears, rpms stay up and truck cant go over 60 mph
When you spend over $50000 for a vehicle you expect the transmission to last for over 100k miles. Nothing previous to let us know it was happening.
I REALLY WANT CHEVROLET TO BE HELD LIABLE FOR THIS SINCE THEY BUILT THE VEHICLE
In May I had a terrible vibration under acceleration between 45 and 75 PH, I brought the Tahoe to the dealer, and was told I needed a new transmission. When I asked how come? Since I don't tow a trailer, beat on it, and have it serviced regularly, they said, "we don't know why, just repair it!"I didn't have the cash, and said I would be back. On the way home I stopped at my tire place for my free rotation and balancing, and they showed me the tires as badly worn, (rotated every 5000 miles, just plain wore out). After replacing the tires the "Transmission Vibration" went away. So much for highly trained Chevy Techs. My Tire dealer saved me $2400 bucks!
I feel that the bumper should not have rusted out in such a short time, and I do not remember getting a recall notice from chevrolet......Is there any way to have this problem dealt with??? It really makes the rest of the car look terrible.
Front grill paint chipped off slowly. Vehicle is white and primer was dark. Gave it that "holstien cow" look to it. Rear bumper is rusting from inside out pushing on the paint from seam where plastic meets metal. Nice, real nice. I will have vehicle painted in spring.
