i was traveling in neutral, downhill, at about 40mph through a shallow turn as i was exiting a highway. when i put the truck in 4th gear to accelerate, i had no power. the tachometer was at zero and i tried to turn on the hazard lights and begin braking, both failed to work. i had no lights or any other electrical power (it was daylight) i downshifted and turned to ease off the road, i had no power steering, then the steering wheel locked. i halted the truck with the e brake once i was slow enough and on the edge of the road. i tried to restart it several times but nothing would happen. the truck had zero electrical power. after about 15 minutes it started back up as if nothing was wrong. when i got it to john elway ford in denver co, the mechanics said the computer didn't log any errors and there was nothing they could do. i contacted ford and they refused to do anything. i contacted the bbb and they just reiterated fords policy. the problem has never been fixed since no one can find the reason for it. it has happened one other time to me in 2007 (i think). *tr
purchased 2001 ford f150 larietsuper crew cab pu on 4/01/2000, 26 miles on odometer, at time of purchase also purchased roadside assistance pkg and extended warranty, esp, from ford , have had serious braking problems with vehicle, vehicle was repeatedly serviced at ford dealership for these repairs, none of which were covered, in may 2002 entire engine failed and had to be rep[laced, was informed by dealership that the problem was that one of the eleectronic brains that control /operate this component failed, on dec 27, 2002 the transmission gave out entirely, luckily the vehicle was not on the freeway at the time, was towed to dealership where it still sits, have called, e-mailed and mailed info to ford customer care without any results other then from phone rep saying that there is nothing that ford will do...this vehicle has been very costly to maintain and for a ford is definatly not bulit "ford tough"...i am very disappointed in the attitude of ford motor company regarding my disappointmnent with this vehicle

i have had brake problems since vehicle was purchased. the latest is the brakes locking up (mostly front) and the wheels getting so hot you can smell them burning and you can't touch the wheel. i have had the vehicle serviced several times at several different service stations starting at the dealer and the problem keeps returning. i have had new rotors installed several times (5), new calipers twice, new brake hoses, flush and fill brake fluid and had the master cylinder push rod adjusted only to have the same problem continue. i have looked online at the forums about f-150's and i am not alone and no one has any answers. i emailed ford asking for help and they advised me to see the dealer which i already have several times and every time they say they can't duplicate the problem and the last time they adjusted the push rod which lasted a little while. i have spent thousands trying to fix this problem and i'm afraid to drive it. *tr
when starting my vehicle in the parking lot it sputtered and did not start the first time. no problem the second time. after starting the second time i noticed the power brakes did not work. i turned the truck off to try to reset the system, still no brakes. i drove home very carefully using my entire body weight to stop the vehicle at stop lights. there would be no way to stop if i did not have plenty of room in front of me. i took the truck into the ford dealer and was told a hose is leaking or has come loose behind the intake manifold. cost approx 700.00. i have contacted ford for potential payment. *tr
