Takat recall: had car accident . Hit by another car while turning; ran over street sign and hit iron fence infront of apartment building. Air bags did not inflate.
Jthbj46g792319591 Lexus failed to accomadate with a loaner vehicle and just keeps telling me "just be patient" every time I call them to discuss my vehicle and that it is very dangerous to drive. My vehicle has been in the garage "not driven all that time" for over four years since me and my husband are fearful for safety of our lives. The dealer has not accommodated with any recourse and just sends letters with bold red print that I am considered "zone b" and when I look up my VIN it says "remedy suspended".
Takata recall. We received a recall notice via mail last week regarding the passenger side airbag. Nhtsa recall no. 16v-340. In the "important update" included with the recall notice were several questions and answers. Question 8 "my vehicle is involved in this safety recall but the remedy is not yet available. Will Lexus provide a loner vehicle until the remedy is available". The answer provides that "[t]o minimize risk, Lexus recommends that no passengers sit in the front passenger seat. If this recommendation is not feasible for the customer's personal or business needs, alternative transportation made be made available. " since receiving the recall notice, I have communicated with our local dealer, herrin-gear Lexus to advise that this recommendation is not feasible and for alternate transportation. The dealer referred me to the manufacturer. The telephone number provided for the manufacturer is not being answered and all other means attempted to communicate in this regard have not been successful. Request is made for assistance communicating with the manufacturer and that your agency require that the recall occur immediately and without delay or alternatively that the manufacturer be compelled to provide alternate transportation.
I called Lexus of rockville center li NY today regarding "urgent safety recall" notice I received. Sadly Lexus dealer told me that the parts are on backorder until end of March. . . Can't even make appointment to have Lexus fix the problem "takata front passenger airbag inflators" for an urgent safety recall - I have had no vehicle problems yet. . .
The end of July 2011 I had noticed a dashboard light go on. Warning that the air bag was not active. I had a sickness in the family and could not bring this vehicle in to edison Lexus untill 8/23/2011 to have it looked at and fixed. Lexus of edison said if I replace the original battery Es 330 it would solve the problem with the passenger airbag seat sensor. I did that for about $160. 00 this did not fix the problem ! Lexus of edison said that sensor is part of the seat frame and it would have to be replaced and it would cost to me of $ 3,359. 50 . I called Lexus directly and they said they would help pay half . I said to Lexus that this is a safety issue and this part should never fail. This should be the manufacturers responsibility to fix this safety issue Lexus federal safety components us warranty for 96 months and 80,000 miles,and restraint systems is 72 months and 70,000 miles . And when I had taken the Es330 to them it was in the aove timeframe. I had only approximately 56,224 miles on this vehicle.
Passenger dash airbag is coming apart at the seems.
Tl the contact owns a 2004 Lexus Es. While operating the vehicle, the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 170,000.
The front passenger airbag cover is bulging and has separated along the seam nearest the windshield due to shrinkage of the dash. This may impact the deployment of the airbag and cause injury.
Wed may 23, 2007 went to jm Lexus to check on the lights on the dashboard which say air bag on and air bag off. Saw joshua lentz who said they recalibrated the system. He told me that as long as front passenger weighs above 70 lbs the air bag system should operate. I asked if the air bag would activate in event of accident if the air bag off sign shows. He told me it would not activate. Today as we drove the sign air bag on showed. After a stop at a store we drove home and the air bag off sign showed all the way home. Today I called 1-800-255-3987, which is the Lexus customer assistance center & spoke to mr caleb. He will have someone call me in two days with some answers. Am still waiting for the call. Fri may 25, 2007 got call back from john hall, service manager at jm Lexus. Told me he will be in touch with Lexus in California about the air bag problem. He believes they are working on the software for the air bag and he will try to find out when they think they will have a solution. He will call me today after he speaks to California. Sun may 27, 2007 haven't heard from service manager john hall.
