Two weeks after purchase, I went to start car only to find total dead battery. Ford roadside assistance came and was able to jump start (we needed 5 minutes with tow truck revving hard). I drove it to dealer. The next day they called and said pick up the car - nothing is wrong, we probably left the lights on. About once a month the same thing happens and we get a message the car went into deep sleep mode. We don't go anywhere without jumper cables. Car is at the dealer now for major transmission problems. It's been there a week still being diagnosed so we had them check this electrical problem. And now they agree that the deep sleep mode is a problem and the fix is still to be determined. No ETA on when the car will be returned. Dealer doesn't call us. We call every few days for updates but they have no real answer.
The dealership says the part is on national backorder so it doesn't know when it will be fixed. Due to covid they don't have any loaner vehicles.
New 2020 Ford Explorer purchased on 5/1 - the oil light came on 6/8. I checked oil - 3.5 quarts low. I took it to the dealer on 6/9. The dealer said they repaired it and gave the vehicle back on 6/13. They said it was a leak out of the dipstick. This made no sense to me. The next day there was oil under the car. I took the car back 6/15. They reported to me it was the transmission, and that the oil cooler had a small hairline fracture. Which I guess is possible, but it still doesn't make sense why the car was so low on oil after less than 10k miles. The dealer called back the next day and informed me the rear main seal was the culprit, leaking oil. He then proceeded to tell me that "it's seeping, not really a leak, and check the oil every couple of 1000 miles and you should be fine". I'm waiting on a correct repair now.
My check engine light was on and the dealership stated that rodents had chewed through the wiring harness. They replaced it and recommended an apparatus that is supposed to deter them from coming back. I did purchase this. It is still under warranty, but it was not covered.
Three times this vehicle has failed to accelerate on the highway and slowed down. The dash chimes and the vehicle slows dramatically as I anticipate and move for acceleration.
If I start the car when the car is already warm, there is a rattle for the first 30 seconds and then you will never hear it again. That is until you start it again with the engine warm. The car does not rattle if the engine is cold when it is started, and it doesn't rattle when I am driving. Only the first 30 seconds on a warm start. It sounds like it is coming from the resonator, but I am bringing the vehicle to get checked out soon.
I bought the car and noticed the within the first couple days that certain songs cause a rattle in the passenger side door when the bass hits. Its going into the dealer and they said it probably just needs a new speaker. Obviously this will be free of charge.
To people with mechanical understanding, transmissions suffer a "beat down" when the fluid, the life blood is in a slow leaking mode, until it gets so low, the front pump starts howling, the car banging in & out of gear…Now here is where the story starts slipping into the unacceptable mode… same thing happened Again...TWICE… I will shorten this up by saying the Dealer shoved me to Lemon law to get rid of me , That is a "Fake Hope" they do under the pretense that they might (Ha Ha Ha) buy it back... BUT WAIT...First time I spoke to this RUBBER HEAD I knew they had no intent… So.... I Dug / Pushed Deeper… I Talked to lady in Ford’s ex office, she was very nice... but, when pressed for her boss or someone that had authority stressing that all I want is a car that the drive train has not been driven to failure... There is a -Stigma- when Spending 50K on a new car that doesn't make it to the first payment... I found out more… I was told by someone that I respected his candor , but don't accept and like the reality of his answers. The Real was with so many problems with the 2020 lineup, and Ford is having money problems of their own. The dealers are privately owned, and when Ford is not supporting them, the laws insulate them and they don't have to. That's right… They can and did in my case having the info that this car came from the - bad batch. I was told by the new truck manager, not that the previous man mentioned. Also even know of problems, Ford won’t put up graded cooler until failure. But failure puts your trans in jeopardy, and Ford only changes cooler & refills. If it works it works... Please and come pick up your new 50K car that we knowingly sold you because we bought them from Ford and they gotta go and go.... But sorry for your Luck....our ass is covered by the laws... And Indeed they are… Yes I checked with a local attorney - It's legal because it's got a warranty which is just total crap... I notice they are really nice vehicles , but a lot of them showing up used with low miles at dealers around here. I only wanted one fixed before it broke not to abuse tranny... but NONE So FAR.
Transmission stuck in high gear!!!! After repeated calls that I told them there was something wrong and was told there was nothing they can do unless the light stays on.
Purchased my car slightly used with 9k miles on it, currently has 16,500 miles. Was driving the other day and the car had a huge jerk when I was breaking or speeding up around the 3rd gear. It was as if I was going over a speed bump at a fast speed, and definitely scared me each time it happened. The car has now been in the shop for a week and a half and I am no closer to a diagnoses for the issue besides they have to remove the entire transmission to see what's wrong. Incredible disappointing that this seems to be an issue that keeps happening. Now I have serious concerns that whoever traded in this car maybe could have been hiding bigger issues.
