Visual confirmation fails due to component failure inside the defective part. Vehicle does not always duplicate the noise unless proper conditions are available.
Sub frame corrosion rust out / crack(s). Control arm (s) corrosion. All verified by independent repair facility, a & b collision staten island NY. This has been an issue with previous years as per driveaccord. Net.
I was driving on a city road/side street at approximately 25 mph, when I turned right onto another street the vehicle jerked or seized slightly, could not control the steering and heard metal scraping on the road. Stopped vehicle immediately. Front passenger side of tire popped off was turned at about 45 degree angle and broke off the arm, ball and joint. This occurred on a relatively smooth road, no obstacles in road. Did not hit a pothole when this occurred or other object, the tire and ball and joint just broke off the arm. I believe it also damaged the drive shaft.
When I first purchased my Honda, it was brought back to the dealer several times for a "shaking" at certain speeds. This was dismissed over and over and blamed on tire air pressure and alignment. I knew this could not be the cause and found other Honda drivers complaining about the same issue. Recently, the passenger side tire came disengaged while driving the vehicle causing the car to crash down on the rotor. The vehicle was at a dealership recently for a repair, I believe this issue has been over looked by Honda and could have caused severe injury to myself or other drivers. It appears the shaking directly caused this issue with the vehicle.
Takata recall air bags should be reinstalled in all vehicles of the year that was being recalled. I have a 2004 Honda Accord sedan and I find it applauding that responsibility isn't being accepted 100%. If one air bag is defected then they all should and could be, with that being said I urge them to honor the faulty equipment and fix it instead of 'playing with people's lives' and wait I to see if the worse happens when the air bags are supposed to be a safety item in case of a accident in which they will release.
in 3-04 (1 year old -approximately) noticed a noise in front(wobbling/metallic)at highway speeds. could not determine if noise was coming from the front/back but appeared to be louder in front. returned vehicle to dealer (4-9-04) but they failed to find any problem. problem remained consistent, did not worsen significantly during the next 8-10 months. sometime in early 2005, noise began to get worse. brought to a repair shop. cause could not be located but determined that back left rear tire was wearing unevenly and it was suggested that possibly tires had been rotated incorrectly in 2004. back-wheel alignment was performed and new tires were purchased in may 05. noise appeared to subside. in late 05, noise returned & began to worsen. although brakes had approximately 30% wear still left on them, replaced them in 12/05. took vehicle to local shop on 3/10/06. new tires had worn on the left rear but cause could not be determined. returned to the dealer on 3/17 who determined that 3 of 4 wheels had defective wheel bearings. it was recommended that the left front and left rear be replaced immediately and that the right front be replaced in near future. we had the dealer replace the two left bearings and had a local mechanic replace the rf on 3/24/06. a 2nd back wheel alignment was performed/new set of tires now needed. the dealer has indicated this is a rare failure. hard to believe that something this "rare" can occur on 3 wheels unless product is defective. internet contains multiple cases of similar complaints about the accord (var. years). in some instances, bearings had to be replaced multiple times! almost all driving is at hwy speeds. vehicle has approx. 87000 miles on it we did not return the vehicle to the dealership after they failed to diagnose the problem initially because we live more than 120 miles (round trip) from our home and it requires that i take a day off of work to return the vehicle to them. *jb
while returning from vacation the car began to make noises from both front tire areas. the car suspension felt loose and there was a distinct lack of control. the honda dealer took it in immediately and replaced both front wheel bearings and the links that hold the stabilizing bars to the frame. we have already replaced the bearings in the back wheels. *nm
the struts on both front and back went bad about 7 years ago. i was driving down the street with my boyfriend at the time, who is a mechanic and heard some thumping and other noises. he looked in under my honda and told me that my struts on both the front and back are bad and need replacing. it's gotten a lot worse, floating over bumps, having a difficult time keeping it under control while turning around any type of corner and if i happen to not see any kind of bump or whole in the road, it sounds as if my car is going to fall apart. i have taken exceptional care of my accord, but can't afford to pay for all new struts!!
state inspection found passenger side of front subframe has rusted through. no other rust is visible on frame. mechanic claims failure from rust may be due to ac drain routed onto frame at this location. another 2000 accord was in in the shop at the same time for repair of the same damage. *tr
