On 2/18/23 our Equinox failed to go into park. We couldn’t shut the car off, nor start it back up. Everything electrical was on basically idle mode. Esc - brake control module came across the dash. The dash also kept saying to put the car in park. It wouldn’t go into park. We called for a tow truck to have it taken back to the dealership. When it was taken to the dealership the car was on. It still wouldn’t shut off. As of 2/21/23 they want $550 for a diagnostics and a dead battery. Of course my battery would die after 2 days of sitting and being on. This is a major safety issue with gm and chevy vehicles. We have 48,653 miles so we’re out of warranty. The dealership didn’t bother to call and ask what happened nor want to listen to what occurred.
When starting the vechile most times the radio will turn on at 75% its max volume. On occassion this will keep the backup camera on and lose all ability to control the infotainment center on the vechile. I also turn my raidio off before I exit the vechile. This occurs when bluetooth connected phone is in car and not in the car. The only fix that has been told to me via the service department is to turn off the vechile and open the drivers door. Cheverlot knows about this issues, which affects more than the 21 Equinox, they have not made any effort to correct the issues.
The infotainment/radio display goes blank or only shows random lines. This problem continues to happen several times per week. When this occurs, the back up camera does not work which I believe violates fmvss 208. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership twice and the issue has not been fixed. The first visit they replaced the radio/radio display and that did nothing to help the problem. The second trip to the dealership in October 2022 resulted in them stating the problem could be a usb cable and placed it on order and we are still waiting for the part, which was supposedly on back order.
Power locks with not lock or unlock with key fob or door buttons, doors will only look with the door buttons after exceeding 60+mph.
I was driving at 330am had cruise control to 70 the speed limit and when I hit my breaks the cruise control didn't disengage instead it speed faster making me lose control of me vehicle took out a sign and went over the hill. My vehicle was totaled.
I am deaf and this have problem engine and oil keep leak and show road ice but outside warm. I try use collision road it not show light on nothing. .
Tl- the contact owns a 2018 Equinox. The contact stated that while driving approximately 75 mph the warning message "reduce power" suddenly displayed and the speed decreased from 75 to 35 mph. I vehicle was taken to the local dealer dave hall, 2589 s. Van dyke rd. Marlette mi. Information regarding the cause and repair of the failure was not available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,000. Jft.
Driver side mirror sets itself to non useable position even when auto mirror option is not turned on. Everytime I shift gears the mirror positions itself to an unuasable position making it impossible to safely pull out from a parked position. It happens wether pulling forward or backing out. I can not seem to find any information on how to correct the issue. Other owners have reported the same issue but Chevrolet refuses to address the issue. . Read more...
I own a 2013 chevy Equinox with 7309 miles . Bought the car December 18 2012 when I inserted the key into the ignition and tried to start the car it made clicking sounds started and abruptly shut off. Tried again car started with the engine running at high speed. Now when you try to die e the car it is speeding up.
While driving my 2019 chevy Equinox it was acting to me to have a flat tire shaking weirdly in what felt like the front right tire. I was going around 72 mph down the freeway slowed to exit to the nearest station no issues there my speed was around 37 mph exiting off the freeway and suddenly the break pedal was to hard to press I found myself with no breaks the break pedal was extended or? it wouldn’t press down at all and although I tried to pump them, I didn’t want to break anything and it felt like if I pushed down it would break something! so I wheeled it into the gas station and put it in park to stop. I called right away to the dealership I bought it at and had it towed from the station! I was lucky! I know I was lucky! I might not have been!! this came without warning other than thinking I had a flat from the shaking! there was no light or other symptoms to alert me! imagine suddenly the car is shaking and you have no breaks!?! the cause I was told is a faulty booster! if you cant guarantee the breaks why sell the car! its a vital aspect of safety! now im terrified! this is not okay! all I get is excuses and runarounds about it! be aware these cars have issues! how can a consumer feel safe driving a vehicle not knowing if the breaks will work or not?! the shaking was my warning I say looking back but not an acceptable one! I think it’s what saved my life and those of my children! only the shaking!!!!!!!!!!!!! not okay GMC not at all!!!!!.
