wiper blades stopped working.
driving in very rainy conditions with my wipers on. suddenly, the wipers stopped working and stuck in the open position while i was driving. luckily i had just gotten off the highway onto a 45 mph road. i tried turning them off and on again, but they wouldn't move at all. i couldn't see anything at all (dangerous and terrifying) so i put on my hazards and pulled off on the side of the road. i manually put the wipers back down. i tried turning them on and off multiple times, and again they would not move at all.
my wife started smelling gas after driving our 2007 chevy equinox. at first we thought it was a possible loose gas cap, but after checking the smell became worse over the next couple of days. i did some further checking on the internet and found a possible problem from others that had the same problem. i looked up under the vehicle and found a fuel leak coming from the top of the gas tank and running down the side next to the fuel fill neck that's located very close to the exhaust system. at that point we stopped driving the vehicle and called our local chevy dealership and where told that it was most likely a fuel pump issue and we needed to bring it in to have it looked at. the guesstimate cost is about $1000.00 parts and labor if that was the problem. i decided to remove the fuel tank myself since i have been a mechanic for 20+ years. i was correct that it's a cracked in the fuel pump pipe on the top of the gas tank that's part of the fuel pumpassembly. the leak was soaking the electric connectors for the fuel pump and running down the tank next to the exhaust system. i contacted the local chevy dealership and was told that my vehicle was out of warranty and they have not seen an issue with this before. the top of the tank is very protected. there is no signs of damage from something from the road that might have hit it or anything else that may have caused this problem other than stress from normal use. as i searched the internet more for this issue i have found very many complaints about this issue and who knows how many that have not been reported. this is a serious fire issue and i feel it should be investigated. *tr
Have been told by two tire stores I need to replace my tires at 18000 miles due to cracking and wear. The tires are rated for 65000 miles.
I bought my 2011 Equinox new then in 2013 the gas pedal went to the floor and stuck down on a two lane road and I could not control the speed as we react 90 I shut down the vechical took it to the dealership the next day the chevolet CO had the dealership dump the on board computer and then down load a new program this worked until the other day we were coming home from taking another couple to there dentist appointments on the way home the gas pedal sucked right to the floor again the speed rose to the 90 we were on a four lane I had cars behinde me but not in front I keep trying to get the foot up I was afraid if I shut it offf we would get rear ended every one was scared I told them what was going on as the speeds keeped increasing trying to hit the brakes to slow some down and taping on the gas pedal I tried prying the pedal up with my foot and after the third attemp it poped up. I call chevolet they said they were not going to do anything about it I told them this is a big safty issue there commet was the vechical is out of warranty and miles I ony have 103k on it and very well maintained with birdnow chevorlet great dealership Chevrolet is not taking these gas pedal sticking down serious I read were there are several vechical with this same problem and it will take people getting hurt or killed before something down thank you.
2011 Chevrolet Equinox. Consumer writes in regards to defective vehicle operation and safety the consumer stated the vehicle was returned to the dealer three times, due to it running rough, loss of power, an overwhelming smell of gasoline, a sticky accelerator pedal and the check engine light illuminating. The dealer replaced the high pressure fuel pump, fuel rail pressure sensor and an attempted repair of the pcm and the reprogramming of the tac. The dealer has been unable to resolve the defects.
I received a letter from Chevrolet (July 2013) explaining that there are issues with numerous engine parts, particularly the fuel pump and balance chain. Chevrolet stated that they are extending my power train warranty to 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first. I have had the balance chain replace twice already. I am concerned that the condition with the fuel pump could cause a fire or serious engine damage. The letter from Chevrolet states: "in addition, the fuel pump plunger shaft seal may wear and allow fuel to leak into the crankcase, which would illuminate the malfunction indicator light. This can cause run-on and/or the engine to run rough". I would assume that the engine and oil in the Equinox would reach very high temperatures when they have been operated for a period of time. The introduction of fuel into the crankcase and engine could possibly ignite. Also the failure of the balance chain could cause engine failure under some driving conditions that could leave the car inoperable, causing an accident. I believe chevy should be held accountable for the defective parts and potential danger their failure could cause. Chevrolet should be directed to issue a recall to replace these defective parts. .
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that a notification was received for NHTSA campaign id number: 14v447000 (seats) and indicated that the part was not available nor the remedy. The dealer was contacted for several months and they were not able to provide an interim fix nor a remedy. The manufacturer was contacted and was not able to confirm when the recall repair would be performed. The contact was not able to drive the vehicle due to a bolt potentially fracturing if the seat was moved or adjusted. The manufacturer was notified of the safety concern and was not able to confirm when the part and the remedy would become available. Dyd.
When pressing the gas pedal, my Equinox does not accelerate and move forward. It takes approximately 2-3 seconds for the vehicle to react to the pressing of the pedal and that reaction is slow despite applying full pedal movement. This happens intermittently and appears to be most notable during extreme high temperatures. It also has been noticed while trying to accelerate to pass in addition to trying to go from a stop. I was almost hit by another vehicle because my Equinox didn't go. When it did go, it took roughly another 5-7 seconds to get up to the 45 mph speed limit.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox equipped with michelin latitude tour tires, size: t225/65r17 (na). While the contact's wife was driving 60 mph, she heard an abnormal popping noise coming from the rear passenger tire. Afterwards, the tire exploded. The contact managed to veer to the shoulder of the road and replaced the tire with a spare. The tire was not repaired. There were no damages to the vehicle. The manufacturer and dealer were not contacted. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 57,410. The tire failure mileage was unknown.
