This vehicle continuously just cuts off. We have tried several different costly repairs and the truck still does not run right, it is still cutting off. This is a safety issue because it can happen anytime anywhere, even driving down the road. I spoke with Ford and all they did was open a case file but told me there was nothing that could be done. We purchased this vehicle in December 2014 and was told the only thing wrong with it was that it needed the rotors turned on the brakes which we have done. Then it started doing this. We have had it towed 6 times in about 2 months. 3 mechanics have tried to repair the truck with no luck. We are tapped out trying to fix this truck. I feel sure the guy who sold it to us knew the truck was doing this but opted not to tell us. Also I blame Ford for the problems we are having, even their technician doesn't know how to fix the problem.
There is a crack down the middle section of the liftgate for quite some time. The liftgate has been unlocking and opening automatically by itself. On only rare occasions has the liftgate opened all the way while driving. On the morning of 7/28/2022 while the vehicle was parked in my driveway the liftgate was discovered to have again unlocked by itself and opened slightly and now with one of the two hinges holding the glass sheared leaving the liftgate glass hanging by only one hinge. With the glass now hanging without having both hinge supports functioning and the inability to close and lock the liftgate, 1) the glass could fall out while driving and 2) with the liftgate unable to now close and lock, contents of the back storage area could fall out of the vehicle while driving. On 8/1/2022 the vehicle was inspected by the foreman of the service dept. At healy Ford, goshen, n. Y. I was told to take it to a body shop for realignment repair. Apparently a recall on 9/13/2022 # 04v442000 did not include my VIN. However, in driving around I do see many 2003 Explorers with the identical crack on the liftgate.
i have several more invoices 7-29-03 replaced dust seals and forgot to put brakes back together lost whole front end and braking. had truck for 3-4 days they have replaced the water pump pulley and s belt 2-3 times. cruise control 10-16, 12/31/02 again squeling noise 02/28/03 defrost kills truck and chirping still. 2/10/03 steering wheel snaped part falls around inside, cruise control was fixed, bearing failure in belt tensioner again. today still having the same problem. come get the piece of !@!@#@#. i am sick of taking this truck in every month to fix something. it is a lemon
my 2004 ford explorer had to have the complete rear end fixed. it has only 40,000 miles and should never have had to repair this part of a automobile. especially a 2004. the repair shop said they have never had to repair a rear end and they have been in business for 30 years. there has to be something wrong that ford did to my vehicle to have this break this soon. it cost me over $1200 of which we are on a fixed income. we had to sell things, borrow money with interest and with my husband so very ill that his medicine for 7 pills every three months is over $700 a 3 month. someone had to make a mistake. i have driven fords since i started drive over several years ago. matter of fact the first car i drove was the ford push button. please find out if there is someone that can help us with this extremely high repair bill. this car is our only transportation and is very wrong for us to have to pay this much for repair for such a new car. thank you , norma grotberg *tr
from the original purchase to now 95k miles i have complained of a ongoing problem with the front end of our 2005 ford explorer sports trac. they have replace a number of part and continue to tell us that its a characteristic of the vehicle to have vibration. i have asked several time for them to take the vehicle back with them refusing. they haven't been able to fix it. as 100% disabled ptsd veteran i have hit my limit with them. this is a piece of crap and i pay almost 600 a month and have to fix it all the time. *tr
rear passenger door can't open from inside or outside of vehicle. difficulty in removing any type of passenger in an emergency. nothing is listed in operations manual. child safety lock was pressed at time so child could not open door. since then tried to unlock child safety from inside and outside and it is impossible. there is no way to do this. involves child safety lock which is broken inside of door. tried to get fixed recently, but seems impossible without damaging door. still cannot open. have heard others who have had this problem. have not seen or heard any recalls on this issue but it should be a ford issue not the consumer. this is too dangerous for anyone driving in that seat should an emergency occur and they need to get out. *tr
my radio lost all the lights to it..the display lights for the radio no longer works. apparently ford knew of this defect as hundreds of owners complained as early as 2001 (one year after the car was sold). i complained and they said i would have to pay for a new radio. seems they should have replaced the radio back when they saw the problem in 2001 while still under warranty.
own a 2003 ford explorer the air bag light blinks then stays on constantly while the car is running. i am concerned about my safety whether my air bag is actually working or not. after searching the internet apparently several other ford owners are having the same problem. also i have a cracked panel on the back hatch , i have seen several ford explorers with the same crack and at the same location , took the ford dealer in clarksville indiana was told it was due to weather , was told several ford explorer owners are complaining about the same problem but unfortunately ford is aware of the problem but not doing a recall. was told would cost around $300 to replace the panel the ford dealership instructed me to file a complaint because they have seen too many themselves. *tr
The contact owns 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. The contact stated the thermostat that controls the temperature in the vehicle malfunctioned. The contact called the manufacturer regarding the thermostat and was advised there was no related recall. The contact stated the air conditioner also functioned sporadically at times during hot weather. The contact stated the vehicle was unsafe to drive due to the extreme heat. The failure mileage was 85,000.
