At start up in cold weather the air bag warning light glowed on dash and stayed on until next start up when engine was warm it happened a lot but is fine in warm weather.
Ford sport trac explorer was t boned on the passenger side of the truck. The truck spun and rolled hard onto the drivers side. No passengers were in the truck at the time and would explain why the passenger side air bags did not deploy, due to the subsequent roll onto the drivers side and the extent of the damage to the drivers side as a result of the rollover I don't understand why the side impact airbags failed to deploy on the drivers side. The truck is a write-off per my insurance company. I contacted Ford customer relations about my concerns and seeking reassurance that this was not a isolated problem or indeed an issue that would go unnoticed. While the customer relations person was sympathetic she could offer no more help other than to advise me to contact my local Ford dealer. I spoke with Ford dealer, service manager and he said he was not aware of problems concerning the airbags. The truck is currently in the possession of my allstate insurance company in a yard somewhere in memphis TN.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Explorer. When the vehicle was started, the passenger side air bag warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the front passenger seat was occupied; however, the warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.
Takata inflators . The airbag light stays on in the morning when I start truck. Is this a dangerous situation ?.

This past weekend I was driving an 04 Ford Explorer when both side airbags spontaneously deployed. I was not in an accident. I was driving down a two-lane road at less than 35 miles per hour when the airbags deployed. I was able to pull over but not before sustaining an injury to my ear and not before the passenger sustained an injury to her right arm. I reported this to Ford, which advised to carry the vehicle to a dealership. Took it to the dealership, where the service manager was unconcerned with the fact that the airbags spontaneously deployed. He looked at the vehicle for two days only to report he was not aware of why the airbags deployed and stated there was nothing he could do about it. I repeat, I was not in an accident and the airbags deployed while driving. This is of course quite concerning to me but Ford does not seem to care. Please follow-up on the safety of Ford's vehicles.
The contact's son owned a 2004 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while her son was driving in the rain at approximately 35 mph, the vehicle hydroplaned as he rounded a corner. The vehicle slid into a ditch and hit a tree on the passenger side of the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact's son and his friend were both transported to the hospital for their injuries. Her son was treated for soreness to various part of his body and was released the same day. Her son's friend had to remain in the hospital overnight and his injuries were unknown. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed from the to independent collision center where it remained in their possession. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired or destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 153,000.
All four side curtain airbags deployed while I was driving my car in a parking lot. There was no collision and no reason whatsoever for the airbags to deploy. The airbags in the dash did not deploy. The airbag hit me in the side of the head and shrapnel from the airbag, hit me in the face and eyes and knocked me sideways toward the passenger seat. I was completely stunned and had piercing pain throughout my head and neck. I was able to pull into a parking spot and call police dispatch, and get the car towed. The car will be inspected tomorrow by the insurance company, but because there was no reason for the airbags to deploy, this could be a major problem! imagine if I was driving on the freeway or in another situation and the airbags just deployed for no reason with no warning. Please take immediate action to get these unsafe airbags off the road. The car will be inspected by the insurance company in the morning and the service provider in the following days. If you would like those reports, I will be happy to send them to you.
on may 31st 2016,i was involve in an automobile accident and at which time my airbag did not deploy..after further evaluation it was determine that my clock spring was bad..my insurance estimator/or adjuster stated that the cause of the malfunction was not a result from the accident..then i was told to contact the nhtsa to see if my vehicle was under a recall for this incident ....my vehicle was in motion on a highway.
The driver was driving down the expressway and her back tire blew out causing her vehicle to spiral out of control and the vehicle then flipped and started rolling downhill, the vehicle airbags did not deploy in the vehicle at all. The driver and her mother are in critical condition. Yes, the safety of others safety was put at risk. I did contact Ford manufacturer on her behind of the airbags and they said there is nothing they can do for her with the vehicle being totaled out. But my main problem is why these airbags did not deploy. The vehicle is going to be inspected by her insurance company here in the next few days. There were no prior lamps, messages, or anything that would have indicated that the airbags were defective.
