Vehicle will not start. The vehicle was sitting in my office parking lot the first time this happened and went to leave and the inside lights flashed and then seemed as if the battery died. Got car jumped off, took to economy Honda in chattanooga, TN they checked it and said nothing was wrong and the battery was fine. Left and now about a month later it is doing the exact same thing. Went to start it, lights flash and it wont come on and now it's not doing anything.
Had to have to many oil changes, almost one a month , not good on the milage then a camry maybe would hold off that many changes.

I am 76 years old and recently quit driving. One of the main reasons I did not want to drive any more was poor visibility, which I always blamed on my poor eyesight, including cataracts. The problem, as it seemed reasonable, was when it was dark. My doctor told me otherwise: elderly people with cataracts actually are able to see significantly better in the dark, when pupils are dilated. Someone recently explained to me the real reason: my car's headlights! I am not planning to drive again, I don't even want to try, but I know now that if the headlights in my car would have been working as they should I would probably be still driving. The poor quality of the lenses in this and probably every 2 to 3 year old car in the road today reduces the visibility so much and I'm sure it's the cause of many accidents and nobody is saying anything. I never had an accident, but I had a few close calls, and it makes me really angry to know it was the blurry bad headlights to blame, and that they are probably hurting and killing people every day. Not to mention those like me who take the blame for something so cheap. My son has a car like this and he had the headlamps polished recently because I insisted him to do so. Now when he drives me I can tell the humongous difference and understand it wasn't me and my "poor eyesight" to blame. I can't tell how many times I went back to the eye doctor to look for a solution, and the real solution is in people like you, if you want to do something about it. I will contact a tv channel/reporter to see if they can start a campaign about this, because automakers are getting away with this like with so many other things. It's a shame!.

The contact owns a 2003 Honda Civic. While driving, the exterior lighting became inoperable. The vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 12v136000 (exterior lighting), but the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 171,000.
While driving the car on the evening of Feb 11, 2005, we (wife and I) smelled a burning smell, we thought it was coming from outside the vehicle,so we started closing the sunroof and windows when I noticed smoke coming from the steering column. I looked in the hole where the stick for the headlights/turn signal was and saw flames. We quickly pulled into a convienence store and while I tried blowing it out (I had nothing else available to do and it was still small enough I thought it was possible), my wife ran in and got a fire extinguisher which put out the fire. We had the car towed home where I dismantled the steering column and dash. The headlight assembly had burned and melted. I've already cleaned out the extinguisher residue and replaced the part but the original part is still available if needed. Honda wanted me to bring them the car at my expense (it wasn't drivable) and wanted my insurance to pay for a rental/repairs, which I thought was really poor handling of the situation expecially since there were flames involved. This car was also completely unmodified and even has the original radio still installed.
During the day the inside of my car had a burning plastic smell. Later that night, my headlight low beams would not work. I had to drive home with the passing beams wedged on. Today I took the headlight/turn signal switch off of the steering column. The assembly had started to melt and the harness connector that was attached to it is singed! apparently I am not the first to have this problem in a Honda vehicle. Please let me know what can be done.
