🇺🇸 mazda 626 2006 [Other] Defect age: 5 Mileage: 25000

Don't want to rant, just want to get an idea of what the problem could be before I take it to someone that will try and take advantage of me with a lie about what's wrong with my car. Thanks

🇺🇸 mazda 626 2009 [Safety] Defect age: 8 Mileage: 50000

The car is only just 8 years old and the warning light has come on for the air bags. We have had it looked at and they say that it is a module problem. What gets me is that the car has only done a little over 56000 kilometers in the 8 years, it has been looked after by it's 1 previous owner and has always been garaged when not in use, and serviced on time etc... This is disgusting that a car such as this that is still like new should have this problem. Has anyone else ever come across this problem? I want to know if this is a race and unusual problem and if so I believe that Mazda should fix it at no cost. The car has never been in a prang or accident of any sort, so why should this happen to a module?

🇺🇸 mazda 626 2016 [Transmission] Defect age: 14 Mileage: 125000

I'm posting this for anyone who may see this issue in the future. I no longer have this car (thankfully this was the worst problem I experienced with this car) but back in 2016 I was leaving my job one summer and after starting it I went to shift into drive when I noticed a loose feeling on the gearshift. The car did not move and acted as if it didn't do anything. Initially I believed this was the dreaded transmission failure that plagues the final generation of the 626 model. After some sleuthing I found that a grommet that held the linkage cable onto the gearshift had broken off and disconnected it. It took me an hour to get it back on thanks to the wonders of free information on the internet but a more permanent fix took another hour. My "fix" is more of a modification that was devised by someone on the Mazda626 forums of installing a cotter pin in place of the grommet which worked up until I sold the car. For those less inclined to work on their own vehicles you'll need to tow the car to a repair shop or dealership where they will either replace the cable or the grommet.

My 2001 Mazda 626 is having transmission problems. It hesitates in reverse while pushing the accelerator, after a few seconds it kicks into reverse and goes. I was told this is the transmission which will cost around $2600 to repair. My car has around 138000 miles, I just replaced the water reservoir, thermostat, radiator, water pump (for the second time in the last 30000 miles) and the timing belt.

Like a fool, I purchased this Mazda 626 third hand because I could not afford a new car and always thought the 626 was a nice looking car. So I went to test drive it and it drove well for the test drive. I bought the car with cash. I live an hour away from where I bought it. The car drove fine until I was within the last ten miles of my house. At a red light I stopped. When it turned green the car revved up, rpms in the 40 to 50 range, but barely moved. I limped the car home, aggravated and very pissed off! I called the man I bought the car from when I got home. He acted like he did not know the transmission was failing. After doing research online I now know the trannys in these cars are terrible and there is no way he was not aware of that. The man said he never had a problem with the tranny but after all my research I know that he did not disclose anything about the transmission failing, which I know is a lie. Before this happened I liked Mazdas. Now I despise them. How can a company install defective transmissions in cars and then refuse to replace them and continue year after year to use the same POS transmissions? I will never buy another Mazda. So I told the guy I bought this car from I am going to take him to small claims court if he does not give me my money back. As of today I am going to have to get a tow truck to take the car back to him. He said he would give me my money back, but we shall see.

🇺🇸 mazda 626 2004 [Transmission] Defect age: 4 Mileage: 50000

Carmax sold me this mazda 626 in 2004. As soon as I was bout to drive it off the lot, the check engine light came on. They said they just ran the car over some water so that may have caused it to come on (BS). They got it to turn off then told me to bring it back the next day so they can check it out more. Them checking it out took a few dadys. One day I went to go check and see what was going on and why it was taking so long. The mechanic working on my car told me it was a little problem with the transmission but it was almost finished getting fixed and there shouldn't be anymore problems,....(BS). I was young and naive. Didn't know a thing bout cars except for how to drive them and that they need oil changes, brakes, and tires every so often. This was just the beginning of my problems with this transmission. Not to mention carmax screwed me on the financial side as well, but thats a whole different blog.
