Tl the contact owns a 2000 Buick Century. On several occasions, while driving, the headlights failed to illuminate without warning. Additionally, when the high beam switch was activated, the check engine, abs, and traction control warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.
While driving at night, the headlights turned off by themselves. This has happened 3 times. When high/low beam selector was used, lights returned on. Suspect faulty switch??.

The contact had to hold the switch to get the high beams to remain illuminated due to the failure. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the multi-function switch on the column for the lights needed to be replaced, including prematurely deteriorated ground wires. The dealer stated that the parts were to be ordered, but were not yet available for them to provide a specific date of when the part would be available to complete the repair. The contact left the vehicle at the dealer until the part was available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 118,000.
: the contact stated the window switch that operated the front passenger side was inoperable. The window switch was located on the front driver side. When opening the window, the glass would not come down smoothly and dropped forcefully. Also, the rear right door panel was loose, and slid when the door was shut. Third, the light in the glove compartment did not illuminate. Fourth, when the vehicle was in the park position, the driver side door would not unlock automatically. Finally, the contact noticed a ticking noise coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to a service dealer on several occasions where the problems were acknowledged, however no repairs were made. The gas gauge is not accurate even through it says no fuel it still has plenty in the tank. The car reverse up and goes on its own without using the gas pedal and when you put the brakes on it shutters. The windows don't work very well anymore.
2003 Buick Century. Consumer writes in regards to tie rod ends recall information. The repair shop replaced and adjusted the left outer tie rod.
Horn button is part of air bag. The horn button shorts out and the horn blows all the time. Have to remove fuse to stop horn blowing. Had to replace air bag to fix. In a few months the problem reoccurred. Its too expensive to replace air bags so I am left without a horn this is a safety issue. Can the manufacturer provide a fix? the internet shows this is a very common problem for a lot of gm cars.
The car locks itself whenever it feels like. Will happen if the engine is on or off.
Every Buick owner, I have talked to at about 80,000 to 100,000 miles has to replace intake manifold and bolts. This is about a $1200. 00 job, gaskets and bolts should last a lot longer.
The coolant light never illuminated warning the consumer of a problem, subsequently the water pump in the consumer's 2002 Buick Century failed. For the second time the coolant sensor is not working.
