unknown; the issues started around 6 months ago. just casually driving like usual, and my steering wheel would lock up and be ridiculously hard to turn, which is scary because its happened while turning through lights and intersections and trying to even just park my car. and on some of those occations the trac and abs sensors would come on, but not all the time.
Both front sides has been repaired, but the abs, service soon, also the traction off lights . Comes on and stay while the vehicle is in motion. Once I turn vehicle off it goes off.
the anti-lock brake system warning light failed, replaced pressure modulator valve. *bf *sc
2000 buick century. consumer states problems with abs control module braking system *tgw the consumer stated a recall was issued for the 1999 model for the exact problem. on october 23,2007, the abs light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic and a trouble code of c1218 appeared. the electronic brake control module was replaced and the hydraulic braking system was purged and flushed and the code was cleared. the abs light illuminated again in december 2007 intermittently, at that time a code came up as b0041. the abs computer module was replaced and the hydraulic braking system was purged and flushed again. in july 2010, the light illuminated again, but intermittently and as of august 2011, it is on all the time. the mechanic received a code of c1218 again. *jb
i have three lights coming on {check engine soon}{anti lock &trac off} this has been going on for over two years and several trips to the garage is not getting it repaired. i am told when these lights are on i lose antilock breaks and traction control. *nm ] ]
when rear brake linings are wet or damp, a terrible noise follows application along with severe grabbing and lock up of one rear wheel. it happens continually until brakes dry out from use. no accident has occurred but very definitely could on slick surface roads. dealer and buick mtr. division refuse to assist. 12,000 miles on 2002 buick century. thank you. *la
when the vehicle was first started and the brakes were applied, there would be a loud grinding noise. after the brakes warmed up, the noise disappeared. the dealer examined the vehicle four times, but could not find the cause of the problem. *ak the consumer reported the problem each time he had gone to the dealer. the first time, the dealer sprayed the brake shoes but this did nothing. there was nothing else that could be done. *sc *jb
dt: the consumer complained about a brake failure. the vehicle was slowed down at 5 mph when the consumer lost his brakes. the pedal went to the floor. the brake line rusted through by the dripping of the air conditioner. the brakes were fixed by an independent mechanic. the dealer gave the consumer the manufacturer's phone number. the manufacturer stated that this vehicle was out of warranty and offered no help at the consumers expense. *ak (12/08/05) *sc
dt*: the contact stated while driving at any speed, the rear brakes made a groaning noise. the dealership determined the rear wheel cylinders were leaking brake fluid onto the rear brakes. the rear wheel cylinders and brakes were replaced. took vehicle to schumacher dealershipin west palm beach, florida. they found the wheel cylinders leaking and brkae shoes soaked with fluid, and they replaced the rear wheel cylinders and brake shoes. the total bill was $735.09 with $618.17 for total brake job.*ak
brake warning light came on after entering interstate highway. lost all brake fluid. had to repair brake line as it was corroded at the bends in the line. *nm
