while accelerating the vehicle emitted a sulfur/rotten egg smell. *nm the problem was due to the catalytic converter. *sc *jb
a clunking noise happens almost all times when come to a complete stop. my wife reported problem to different dealers and problem has not been resolved excessive odors smell like rear brake pads burned. reported to different lexus without being fixed until now. recently hearing popping noise when air conditioner used. will report to lexus dealer next service time. *jb
my car 2014 gx 460 with 76000 miles has timing chain cover leak and it appears it is common failure from manufacture of toyota and lexus and lexus refused to repair it , my car it is one of 1000s car has same problem and lexus know this is manufactured problem
the timing cover gasket began to leak oil at 65,000 miles. this is a known manufacturing defect for this engine. *tr
the engine was found to have a leaking valley plate and cam tower cover with little over 82,000 miles on it. an online search indicates that this is a common problem shared across the lexus (gx460) and toyota (tundra) platforms with this engine.
this vehicle has had bad engine rumbling since i have owens’s the vehicle and makes loud noises all the time since i have owned it new. also this year car online has had known suspension issues and alignment issues. my vehicle pulls to the right all the time and steering wheel is off center. also my front socks with only 6200 make noise when going over bumps. i have been to the dealership over these issues twice and they tried to fix the alignment the first time since it was out but used the wrong specs bwcucase they are not out for 2022 lexus gx 460 yet. also the rumbling the dealership can not figure out at all.
during inspection, technician noted coolant reservoir very low. technician traced coolant leak to valley seal. recommend to replace noticed before performing coolant replacement found the reservoir was near empty indicating a leak in the system. inspected radiator assembly and found no obvious leaks. inspected coolant valley from under the car and found large amounts of dry coolant around the transmission bell housing. this confirms the coolant valley is indeed leaking and will need to be resealed. reseal coolant valley and replace seals/gaskets necessary. driver comment: this is a known issue with toyota/lexus v8 engines. toyota/lexus needs to take ownership (recall) and fix the worn out seals without charge.
