there were two incidents with the 2006 silverado and both related to the steel brake lines. a) during inner city driving, the rear brakes failed. cause was a broken steel brake line from the abs module to the rear 'y' block. believe the leak was closer to the rear axle. new stainless steel line was installed. b) again during inner city driving, the front brakes failed. one of the steel lines failed. it looked like the issue was near the abs module. but in removing all of the remaining brake lines it was hard to tell what was the exact failure point. with the exception of the coated steel lines on the rear axle; all of the original general motors lines were in rusted/corroded state. all steel brake lines have been replaced with stainless steel lines. the truck belongs to my father [xxx] and was driving it both instances. his email is: [xxx]@aoc.gov information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).' *jb

the brake line to the front brakes burst and resulted in no brakes. in 2013 the brake line to the rear burst and had the same result. fortunately i did not have an accident in either case. i repaired the rear brake line and i expected your organization to issue a recall because my research indicated this is a common problem. how many people have to be injured or killed to issue a recall. there is a reasonable expectation that a vehicle in good condition that is ten years old and less than 100,000 miles should not have its brakes fail completely and unexpectedly. why are these vehicles allowed to be produced with brake lines made of materials that will certainly fail in a short period of time. in both instances, i was traveling at a low speed. what happens when a driver, especially an inexperienced driver has their brakes fail at a high rate of speed. you should issue a recall for the vehicles involved.

My husband just had a wreck last night. His gas pedals got stuck causing him to lose control of the truck and the truck to spend around in the middle of the street. It hit another car and a telephone pole before jumping the curb and landing in a field. The air bags did not deploy on any parts of the truck that was impacted by the wreck. Both sides of the truck are completely smashed in and both windshields have been busted out. My husband actually came of the windshield of the truck where the airbag should have deployed.
