there were two incidents with the 2006 silverado and both related to the steel brake lines. a) during inner city driving, the rear brakes failed. cause was a broken steel brake line from the abs module to the rear 'y' block. believe the leak was closer to the rear axle. new stainless steel line was installed. b) again during inner city driving, the front brakes failed. one of the steel lines failed. it looked like the issue was near the abs module. but in removing all of the remaining brake lines it was hard to tell what was the exact failure point. with the exception of the coated steel lines on the rear axle; all of the original general motors lines were in rusted/corroded state. all steel brake lines have been replaced with stainless steel lines. the truck belongs to my father [xxx] and was driving it both instances. his email is: [xxx]@aoc.gov information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).' *jb
the brake line to the front brakes burst and resulted in no brakes. in 2013 the brake line to the rear burst and had the same result. fortunately i did not have an accident in either case. i repaired the rear brake line and i expected your organization to issue a recall because my research indicated this is a common problem. how many people have to be injured or killed to issue a recall. there is a reasonable expectation that a vehicle in good condition that is ten years old and less than 100,000 miles should not have its brakes fail completely and unexpectedly. why are these vehicles allowed to be produced with brake lines made of materials that will certainly fail in a short period of time. in both instances, i was traveling at a low speed. what happens when a driver, especially an inexperienced driver has their brakes fail at a high rate of speed. you should issue a recall for the vehicles involved.
backing out of my driveway, i stepped on the brake pedal and a stream of hydraulic brake fluid hit my wife. a brake line had burst and i completely lost brakes. i had vehicle towed to the dealer they charged $650 to replace the rusted brake line that had burst. now i have lost brakes again 6/21/13 another leak from a rusted out hole in the brake line. i purchased this truck new in 2000 and it has remained in florida the entire time. we have no road salt, we have no snow. how can you build a vehicle with brake lines that rust out?. please help and recall this dangerous problem before innocent people get killed! *tr
There are several problems I’ve noticed some I fix myself! first of all, I was driving my truck at night on the country road and all of a sudden it starts losing power shut down on me on a little road with no pull over spots in kentucky and just dies completely. My service charging system light came on. I worked on this forever. I noticed it. All of my grounds were completely nasty and pretty much not making contact. I fix the ones that I can find only two I know there’s more, I’ve changed the generator three times and the battery once, the problem happened again and again and again the only way I can stop my truck from dying is when that light come on if I got out and I took the negative wire off of my battery and then put it back on it would run again for about another three days and then if I didn’t see it, I’m stranded very dangerous. Finally I took it to my mechanic up the road and he basically did the same things. I did something about a door switch also though not another battery another generator and he added new battery cables so far it hasn’t done it again. Now my truck when starting to slow down, it will vibrate and shake you to death. You hit a little vibration in the road say a rumble strip. This thing will shake you through the roof in about make you run into another vehicle , also, it’s hard to fill up the gas if you have to turn the gas nozzle almost straight up and down if you’re low on gas to make it except it or you’ll be sitting there for 30 minutes putting gas in your truck. I noticed also all of my wheels are having rough spots on them everywhere and they are rusting into . Another thing that happens this truck eats breaks for breakfast. I have put in the past two years at least have the change the brakes, calipers rotors and all twice a year sometimes three times a year. Also, the trailer brake system light comes on nonstop along with a service stability track on when happen. No wasey no cruise control. I am a masterelect. Maintain truck it ju.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while driving at 30-35 mph with a 2017 heartland bighorn trailer hitched to the vehicle, the message “check trailer wiring” was displayed. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring for extended period of times while driving. The contact stated that the failure persisted for 4 hours while driving at 60 mph. The contact stated that several unknown repairs had been completed on the trailer. However, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that no issues were found. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer graff chevy durand (9009 lansing rd, durand, mi 48429), where it was diagnosed that no issues were found. The contact stated the pollak 7-way plug connector was installed on the vehicle under gm technical service bulletin number :pit5311e. However, the failure persisted. While driving, breaks "stick" causing the to get so hot the smoke and smell like they are burning. The truck pulls and shakes so aggressively you can barely steer it. I have reached out to the dealership and was told there is nothing wrong. Initially, my husband thought I was crazy because he wasnt with me, but yesterday he was driving and thought we had a completely flat tire, and could barely keep the truck on the road.
Not all of the gauge lights work on the instrument panel. Some work like they are supposed to and others don't work at all. Checked fuses and everything else I could and all is well. Has to be something wrong with the cluster. I have heard of other Chevrolet's having similar problem. Gauges work fine its the lights that don't work.
Service trailer brake system message came on. Next day chevy found "circuits rubbing on bracket. . . Repaired, covered harness with conduit. . Repositioned away from e-brake. . . " dealer found chevy doc#2491825 that warns the dealership of "wiring chaff concern ear the e-brake pedal" but no notice was sent to owners. Truck manual on page 3-37 says to take it to a dealer if the message remains on after the ignition is cycled on and off. Message did not return, but took in anyway. Chevy dealer said computer records show this condition was detected a number of times but we received only one single message on the digital information center. A brake system failure while RV or commercial towing downhill or on wet roads could lead to catastrophic results-owners should be notified and affected vehicles inspected.
