While traveling with cruise set at 62mph and a truck was in the right turn lane the automatic collision went off and hard brake when nothing was in front of the truck this has happen also with out cruise control on pulling up to a stop light and being first person no other vehicle was on the road I also don't have forward collision turned on or lane departure.
My wife was backing up in our driveway, and hit another vehicle parked in our driveway. The backup pre-collision system did not issue any warning, and did not stop the vehicle (as it is supposed to do).
The contact owns a 2020 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the contact stated that the qi charger pad was extremely hot while charging his phone. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Toyota of gastonia (4821 wilkinson blvd, gastonia, nc 28056) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the qi charging pad needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. While in reverse, idling slowly to a stop to pick up a hot water heater, the vehicle suddenly accelerated independently. The vehicle did not respond when the brake pedal was depressed. As a result the vehicle crashed into plumbing supply warehouse, sending it through a overhead door and through expensive hot water heaters and spas, the truck continued into the warehouse until it hit an immovable object and stopped. The throttle continued to highly rev the engine and the vehicle was shifted into drive to get out of the interior of the warehouse. The vehicle crashed at high speed, into plumbing debris on the way out, through a parking lot and onto the street. Brakes did not stop the vehicle. The vehicle was was eventually shifted into neutral and the throttle eventually resumed normal engine speed operation. Next day, Toyota dealer could not the diagnose the problem, a failed throttle position sensor because, being a 2004, it did not "throw" computer failure code. Entire throttle assembly was replaced by independent garage. Mileage 62,700. Miles. Earlier in the same week, throttle stuck open temporarily while backing up at low speed, but I didn't think anything about it or realize the seriousness of a failing throttle position sensor. The truck is now operating ok after body repairs.
Vehicle struggles to start with normal starting procedures. Vehicle's ignition delays normal starting procedures sometimes allowing the key to be held systematically for an abnormal period of time before vehicle starting. If vehicle fails to start in the first try within 3-5 seconds vehicle would crank but would not start. Then a second attempt would have to be made. This is not common for a gas engine vehicle . Was taken to dealer for further inspection and service advisor said this is normal for most late model Tacomas.
Pre-collision warning system is faulty. The system engages when nothing is in front of the vehicle to merit warnings or engaging the brakes automatically. However, the system does not engage when the truck is extremely close to the wall of a garage. Unfortunately there is no way to turn off this feature and it will ultimately result in an accident which may be fatal.
Vehicle stalling on freeway and almost crashed multiple times and dealership is saying they already fixed the recall on my truck but still doing same thing as reports say.
On a recent inspection of the lights on my vehicle I noticed that the daylight running lights (drl) were melting both left and right headlight assemblies. The light bulb retainer is discolored indicating signs of a high heat. My Toyota dealership confirmed there is a problem with the drl's, however they were only replacing the headlight assembly if the vehicle is under warranty. I then contacted Toyota customer service and asked if there was a fix for the headlights, they confirmed that there is no fix and they will not replace the headlight assembly. The problem is a potential fire hazard. An internet search provided numerous accounts and pictures of this chronic problem. I would like Toyota to correct the hazard and repair the damage to my vehicle. Again the biggest issue here is that if Toyota replaces the headlight assembly it will be with the same components that cause the problem.
The airbag light first came on about 60 days ago, the first time I tried to use the cruise control after light was first noticed the cruise control did not work. My concern is that as long as the light is on the airbag(s) may or may not deploy. This airbag light has stayed on constantly since first appeared, the cruise control will work intermittently. The component has not been inspected but there is a recall, 12v092000:air bag clockspring replacement, that addresses this exact concern but appears my VIN is not included. This is obviously a problem on other VIN ranges because mine suffers from this and it is obvious Toyota is aware there is a problem but it just hasn't had enough complaints with my VIN range, likely because there are not as many on the road as the vehicle is 14 years old. I am concerned for my family's safety as well as my own if the airbag fails to deploy because of an accident.
I had to bring my 2008 Toyota Tacoma in to get serviced . I received a call regarding the state of the frame. The dealer informed me that the are multiple spot on the frame with bad rust damage and some of the cross members are missing where they attach to the frame and said it would not pass state inspection. In 2015 the truck was resprayed to protect the farme which lasted about 1 month. At this point the frame will not last another year.
