after 8 years, the headlight lenses became so cloudy, the truck could not be safely driven at night. it was parked in a carport.
Date of 2nd failure: 03/01/2001. Mileage of 2nd failure: 9965. Turn signal failed to activate on both left and right turns within 5 minutes of initial morning startup. Driver attempted to activate a number of times for both left turn and right turn but the signals failed to illuminate.
(actual incident date: 01/02/2003 ->message to NHTSA: update your incident date pulldown, 2003 not listed!): on 05/14/2001, turn signal was replaced (courtesy) as precaution from previous driver noted failures. Sometime early spring 2002, driver noticed turn signal malfunction one morning, after that none occured until 01/02/2003 at 10:15am. Driver tried to engage and disengage turn signal multiple times but turn signal failed to operate. Driver had to use hand to signal turning to reach destination. Turn signal malfunction has never occurred with such magnitude as it did with this incident. Approximately an hour later, upon returning to vehicle, turn signal worked fine. Since then no problems yet with turn signal. Approximate mileage of failure: 25,600. In addition, the floor of the passenger side always gets wet/damp when vehicle is washed or when it rains. An electrical short or open circuit can cause a fault in the genuine Toyota trailer towing wire harness converter which can cause a failure of the converter, and if a trailer is being towed at the time, non operation of the trailer lights, in limited cases, the converter housing could become heat deformed,,,, there is a possibility this fault may cause check engine light to activate,,,,, this situation usually happens when vehicle is in motion on city streets ,highway turning etc, ,e. The dealer stated that there was no defect with the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 10.
Within 1 month of buying a 2012 and 2013 Tacoma the clockspring goes out. This repair is incredibly expensive and has happened with every single Tacoma I have ever bought. Toyota needs to do something about this, this is unnaceptable that my horn/clockspring goes out almost immidiately.

The contact stated that the vehicle was taken for state inspection however, the vehicle failed the inspection due to cracks to the driver’s and passenger’s side sub frame, and corroded brake lines. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that both the driver’s and passenger’s side sub frame and brake lines needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. An undisclosed dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that an unstated recall had expired, and the previous vehicle owner was notified, but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 132,000.
Stepping on the break sometimes I have a good firm brake pedal others seem to go almost to the floor. Talking with a mechanic he had told me that there was numerous Toyota Tacomas with the same issue. I have tried bleeding the brakes and still have the same symptoms I would think this would be a safety issue.
Paint problems on all four doors flaking off . Recieving a notice for my camary but not the Tacoma, both colors were listed.
60,000 miles. Three years ago the airbag light came on. We brought it and paid for diagnostics but no answers. Now the check engine light and track off are lighting (not related to first issue) and the truck is in slowdown mode. We replaced the gas-cap but it didn't fix the issue. Disappointed in what used to be a quality company.
