when increasing speed once it hits 65 up to 75 the steering wheel shake/vibrates. this is not safe at this speed and uncomfortable to drive. the service manager drove it and agreed the issue was there. it has been into be fixed several times. i am told each time it is fixed, but when test driven it is still an issue. i have been told it is fixed, but i have told them it is not.
driving on the highway and a small pebble hit our windshield less than 1/8 inches(estimate based on crack left) in diameter. instead of bouncing of the windshield it cracked the windshield. attempt to repair the windshield by a auto glass company cracked it even further. this has never happened before owning multiple vehicles. in researching there looks to be other complaints from hyundai palisade owners on various sites. we were traveling approximately 74 mph on a highway in sunny conditions.
this car has a vibration at highway speeds. i made the dealer aware of the issue and they said that the drive shaft needed to be replaced. they did the replacement and the vibration was still there. they then balanced the tires and that did not fix the issue. i went to a tire shop and had the tires balanced and did a 4 wheel alignment. the problem still exists. it does not make the car undriveable, but it is annoying and should not be happening. i do not know if this will have long term consequences on the drive train. the dealer now said they have done all they can.
within the first month after the purchase in late august 2022, the car would shake when turning onto road. depressing the gas peddle did nothing. the speedometer would not go over 20 mph, but the car was not moving, only coasting. the rpm would jump to over 3000 rpm. again, the car is not moving, only coasting. there was no engine noise, only the sound of the gas pedal hitting the floor. subsequent pumps of the gas peddle did nothing, but about 20-30 seconds of this behavior, the car would start to kick into drive. there were no instrument panel alarms, warnings, or lights. by october 2022, the problem occurred every time i drove the car first thing after it had been off for several hours. for the rest of fall, winter, and spring with temperatures under 30 degrees, this problem would occur. i have to use one of 2 highways to leave my home. both highways were dangerous for this problem. i had to wait for no traffic as far as i could see, but with coasting speeds and no control, it didn't take long for traffic to catch up. in some cases, after a turn onto a highway or 2-lane busy street, there was no where to coast off the road. i used hazard lights a lot, but it was clear that the danger was significant. the third cold weather season is coming soon. the problem will most certainly occur has it has every year since we purchased it. the problem seems to occur at intersections where this is a greater than 5% grade. it does not occur on a flat grade. the dealer tells us that unless their diagnostic equipment from hyundai usa cannot detect a problem, then they cannot do a repair. even though the technicians witnessed the problem away from the dealership, they cannot make it fail at the dealership. they want to keep the car for days or weeks, but we've been through this and i turned them down. hyundai usa keeps telling me to file a claim, which i did. to date, i have not received any further correspondence since i filed it.
when braking on an uneven surface, the anti-lock braking system will sometimes kick in, causing the car to shake and not deliver the stopping power the driver expects. i've nearly rear ended multiple people and have glided out into intersections before. typically happens when leaving parking lots, coming to 4 way stops, or pulling into driveways. i've also had the emergency braking system kick in on a few occasions while this happened. you lose all ability to maneuver the vehicle when this happens. i've had the dealership look at this multiple times only to tell me that it's my driving habits causing the abs to initiate. a simple search online shows that lots of 2024 palisade owners are reporting similar issues. i do not believe hyundai understands how to fix this issue yet.
The car pulls to the right and it is hard to steer left. At speeds higher than 50mph the steering wheels vibrates when turning left to correct the veering. The lane departure and lane keeping assist to not operate correctly because the car veers to the right. I have had the car serviced twice within one week of purchasing and there is no fix from the dealer nor Hyundai. This issue was apparent within minutes of first driving the car, there are no warning lights. The alignment is out of spec but cannot be corrected by the dealer. The cause is reported as an issue with the steering angle sensor.
On 11/9/2021, warning lights appeared on the dash - forward collision, abs, and auto hold and I felt a slight skipping when breaking after that. We took it to the dealership, they informed that it was a wheel sensor and nothing to worry about, however, they didn't have the replacement sensor and would have to order it but said the vehicle was safe to drive. I asked my husband to confirm that the vehicle was safe to drive as by this point the skipping in the breaks continued on occasion, accompanied by a slight skipping noise. The dealer confirmed the vehicle was safe to drive. I continued to feel and hear a skipping when breaking on occasion. While driving on 11/22/21, I was approaching a red light with one car in front of me. I attempted to slow down and my breaks were skipping heavily and then the breaks became hard to depress. I was pressing the breaks heavily and the vehicle wouldn't stop. Fearful that I was going to hit the car in front of me with just a few inches between us, I swerved into the other lane (same direction) without noticing that there was a car approaching behind me in that lane. If felt like my wheels weren't spinning as I slid onto the side of the highway. Thankfully, the car behind me was able to come to a stop - also within inches - without an accident occurring. I pulled into a parking lot and contacted my husband, who contacted the dealer. The dealer had my car towed back to the dealership. Upon dealer inspection, they insisted there is nothing wrong with breaks and said there was "failure to replicate" the incident. They again informed it is just the wheel sensor and that the breaks are fine. I am fearful to drive the vehicle after the last incident.
The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that the vehicle was recently purchased from global Hyundai (1099 us-22, north plainfield, NJ 07060). The contact stated that while in reverse, there was an unknown flash on the navigation system screen before the screen became inoperable. Several seconds later, the screen resumed normal operation without driver input. Additionally, the back over prevention screen was also inoperable. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 128.
over sensitive abs when going over bums or bumpy roads the breaks get really hard , makes a loud cranking noise and break peddle starts shaking really bad unable to bring the car to a complete stop i’ve taken it in and they said they couldn't mimic that reaction. it feels very unsafe specially when you have little kids in they car.
whenever the car goes over bumps in the road at low speeds the abs system activates. you can feel a “grinding” sensation emanating from the brake pedal. when it happens, if you try to engage the brakes, they don’t engage for several seconds. it happened to me recently with my kids in the car and we almost rolled into a busy intersection and could have been seriously injured.
