Some how the oil was leaking ,I don t know why?lucky me I was at home doing the yard work when I saw this massive oil leaking on my drive way.
Oil cooler line ruptured while driving. Lexus issued an extended warranty to 12/31/2016 on the oil cooler line. Lexus sent an advisory letter to owners of record several months prior to our purchase. Our dealer: rohrich Lexus, did not inform us of the problem when purchased 09/2014. Nor did they address the problem when they serviced the vehicle in 08/16, an oil change. Now we have $500 plus in repair costs for the oil cooler line replacement which could have been avoided if rohrich service department had advised us of the extended warranty that covered our vehicle. The oil cooler line was rubber and the fix was a metal line.
I was driving my 2011 Lexus Rx 350 on July 7, 2023, to a swimming pool. I was pulling into a parking spot just rolling to a stop with my foot on the brake. The car suddenly accelerated with grate speed and ran on the curb of the sidewalk forward to a small rock wall, I immediately turned the vehicle to the right and pressed down on the brakes, but the vehicle kept moving about 45 feet and came to a stop after crushing another two vehicles in the parking lot. These two vehicles were destroyed and not repairable according to the insurance company. For my car the right front side was crushed and both airbags on the drive side deployed, and my chest and legs were injured by the airbags. The biggest injury was my mental injury which made me unable to return to normal life.
My 2011 Lexus Rx350 was running fine as I ran errands for groceries and other items around town one day. Then, out of the blue, I realized that after returning home and parking in my garage, there was a trail of oil in my driveway, leading to my vehicle. I looked under the engine area and noticed a pool of oil. I had a certified mobile mechanic come to my home and provide a diagnosis. This diagnosis was that a hole had formed in the rubber engine oil cooler line, and drained nearly all the oil in my engine. He mentioned that one more mile and I could have had total engine failure. He proceeded to replace it with a new genuine Lexus, all metal oil cooler line. I contacted Lexus about this incident, but they provided no compensation for this occurrence, even though there was a short 4-year technical service bulletin they issued barely a year after production, that called out this was indeed a flaw in their design. After doing some research, I see this is a very common issue, with many in the past most recent years having this very issue. Yet, Lexus has not recalled this, nor reimbursed those that have suffered from this manufacture defect. I am really hoping that something can be done by NHTSA and/or Lexus to resolve this issue that I am certain is still plaguing thousands of Lexus owners on the road, and putting our and those around us' safety at risk. Surely, a part that obviously and very consistently degrades over the course of 5+ years so often, needs to be addressed and recalled for the sake of safety and integrity.
On December 28th , 2022, I was giving a ride to a collegue of mine. She opened the door and got in . I proceeded to get the car out of park and suddenly the car accelerated and I could not get the car under control. I turned the car so it would not hit the structure in front of me. I turned but still could not control the car and the only way was to put the car in to park . It jumped the curb and stopped. The left side door opened in the process and was open as this happened.
I’ve approximately the last 45 thousand miles, Lexus dealers have replaced the brake actuator and other components of the brake system on this vehicle at least 6 times due to noise issues. Lexus has stated that this is not a safety issue, I have an open ticket with Lexus, but yesterday I had to slam on the brakes and did not get nearly the response that should have come right away. There are no warning lights, as far as I can tell the traction control didn’t engage, and eventually the car suddenly started breaking much harder, but it was very delayed l, and disproportionate with any additional force applied. Lexus knows the brake system is an issue in this model to the point where they are covering the system for 10 years or 150,000 miles, but to say that it isn’t a safety issue seems short-sighted. This system works in conjunction with the radar sensors adaptive cruise control, and I’ve had. This car has also had a number of seeming electrical issues, with every door lock actuator replaced at least once, some of them more than once, and the infotainment system shuts down and reboots randomly or freezes.
The Lexus emblem where the front facing camera is located along with other sensors is causing malfunction and warning lights in the instrument gauge cluster. Then the check engine, check battery, 4wd malfunction, 2wd engaged, high temp coolant, abs light, coolant gauge erratically fluctuates, rpm gauge stays at zero. Please pull over to a safe location and contact your dealer. The messages above are generated periodically. Please note and inform Lexus of the issues.
The accident happened on 12/28/22. At 8:50 am, I was picking up a friend and was leaving the parking lot. My friend got in and and then opened the door to lock it again . My foot was on the gas pedal trying to leave the parking lot. The car jumped and went to the opposite side. I turned the steering wheel to keep it from hitting an object but could not get any control on the car. The car kept accelerating and I had to put the car back into park to stop the car. The acceleration was so much that the car jumped the curb and stopped by a wall. The air bags opened up.
The sunroof glass spontaneously exploded into thousands of pieces while driving on the interstate. There was no impact what so ever to the glass and the outside temperature was 95 degrees. The shattered glass fell into the vehicle and left a huge hole in the center of the glass panel. My safety was at risk due to explosion of glass while driving at an elevated rate of speed of 75mph. All while traveling over 100 miles from home and then having to drive the vehicle home with a gapping hole in the roof. The surrounding drivers were also at risk due to the glass flying off and hitting their vehicles. There were no cracks or failures to the glass prior to the glass exploding. There were no warning lights, messages or symptoms.
