Trying to talk through bluetooth while driving is almost impossible. If I stop the truck, turn the engine off, everything is fine. If I disconnect bluetooth and hold the phone, everything is fine. I use the same phone in rental cars... no problem using bluetooth whatsoever. My last truck, a 2019 Tacoma had the exact same problem. Toyota is better than this!!!Please, find an answer, really love the truck otherwise.
The microphone stop working, was working with all my aftermarket accessories connected. I tried all the YouTube hints, Toyota Nation and Toyota D.I.Y hints, nothing seems to work. Took it to the dealer and the dealer service I need to disconnect all my accessories and mods and they will check it again. All my reading and research points to the DCM Telematics. If the computer cannot talk to the Telematics, then why would that not be the problem? I did not understand why would the service personnel change the microphone thinking that going to fix the Telematics. Old Joke - "Doctor, my right thumbs hurts when I grab a pencil, the doctor says, then don't grab a pencil with that hand."
Most vehicles starts very easily with a quick start, but this Tacoma, you need to hold until start or it will not start.
Truck was okay for first 900 miles. Around 900 miles truck started to shift rough, and a grinding/whistling noise was noticed. The noise happens around shifts and can be heard over the radio. It is a high pitched noise that varies in volume and frequency with speed. The truck also would lurch forward at stop signs and red lights. The lurching is so bad it moves around the occupants of the truck. The truck also has extremely rough engagement of the gas when going from coasting to foot-on-gas. All of these issues point to the power train, and most likely the transmission. I have taken it to numerous Toyota dealers, the first one only three weeks after buying the truck. I have been told the truck is fine and drives as expected. No technician has been able to replicate the grinding noise. I created a case with Toyota and they had one of their techs look at the truck. Of course, they also said the truck is fine. Toyota is now essentially telling me to F**k off. So, I'm stuck with a $45k truck that I cannot drive for safety and comfort reasons. I will never be buying another Toyota product as this is the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I purposely got a truck that was made in the US, since they cheaped out and moved most production to Mexico. Apparently their US manufacturing is not good anymore either. I will continue to tell everyone of my issue and warn them of buying a new Toyota. Toyota will not help you, and your warranty is meaningless unless the truck explodes. You're better off leasing a vehicle that actually has modern features, because Toyota quality is a thing of the past. Now they're essentially just outdated, overpriced pieces of trash.
click to see larger images NAV states there is stop and go traffic X miles ahead on every trip when there are zero cars on the road. Questioning the accuracy of the route it gives me due to the fact itโs always telling me there is traffic. Iโve contacted Toyota multiple times and reset the unit with no change. Just annoying.
Engine when giving gas is hesitant and kind of surges, and the tranny shifts a lot, and not very smoothly. From what I've read online this is a fairly common complaint/problem.
When this truck is stop on a fair incline, when it rolls back, a grinding noise comes from the transmission. You have to have the brake on to start back up the incline. Soon it will be taken in for a look at. It's under warranty. For an off road vehicle, it shouldn't be making grinding / ratcheting noise like that.
click to see larger images During heavy braking the rear wheels would lock-up. The dealer confirmed the issue in writing and then put drums on to fix the issue. But it didnโt fix anything. I will put in another complaint on the follow~up.Update from Feb 11, 2021: With in 30-60 days of the the initial repair the rear brakes started to lock again during the same conditions. This time Toyota replaced drums(again) shoes, but not other integral drum parking brake parts. This was a $.Update from Feb 11, 2021: The rear brakes were supposedly repaired twice, but now the rear brakes will stay engaged after I disengage the parking brake and the truck will not move. However if I engage and disengage the parking brake a few times it was drivable. I proceeded to drive an upon braking for a stop sign the left rear wheel completely locked up. The truck is right at 6k miles and itโs in the shop again for the 5th issue.Update from Dec 26, 2021: The Tacoma now has 9100 miles and the rear brakes shutter durning braking and even just on de accelerating. The Toyota tech yarded up on the E brake during a test drive and wow the vibration was bad. We got back to the shop , I got a ride home and they call to say it was my fault that the drums were out of round. Yet the drums were replace three times prior from Toyota @ 2k 4K & 6k miles. I donโt tow, and the heaviest thing I have put in the bed is my E bike. My 2020 Tacoma has been at the absolute worst dealership in the PNW McCords Toyota. What a f*cking joke , These people will literally waste your time having you bring your rig in for Nothing. I asked for my 10 k service while they had the truck in for warranty, and once I got my truck back I looked at the tape I had put on the oil fill cap to tell if it was removed, it had not been removed. I call McCords and no one could tell me if my 10k service was completed. I went back in and asked a cashier, they looked at the computer and said the service was NOT completed . So these jerks let me leave under the impression that my service was done.
SERVCO TOYOTA HONOLULU Service Estimate - 2020-11-09 08:08:01 SERVCO TOYOTA HONOLULU Mon, Nov 9, 8:08 AM (11 days ago) Your service appointment document with SERVCO TOYOTA HONOLULU available for viewing: - Service Appointment Check-In Estimate COn or about 11 June 2020 I purchased a brand new 2020 Toyota Tacoma 4X2 D-6 V6 SPT VIN 3TMBZ5DN8LM025294 stock # L083226 Color Super White/Cement Model no: T8483, odometer reading (22) from SERVCO PACIFIC INC DBA SERVCO TOYOTA HONOLULU.Approximately 4 months into ownership (& approximately 1500 odometer miles) I began experiencing ignition problems. On 26 Oct 2020, I initiated a service appointment online for 9 Nov 2020 at 0800 hrs. I have attached a copy of the service appointment. I was assigned to Service Advisor, to which I described the issues as follows: The ignition locked in place and produced a loud screeching sound while the engine lights became illuminated. The event lasted for approximately 30-50 seconds and did not allow for immediate disengagement. After the first occurrence I initiated the service appointment and the events had occurred 3 additional times prior to my appointment date. I left the vehicle and was later contacted by Manny Cabral sometime after 1147 hours and he stated that the technician was able to duplicate the event and therefore diagnose the problem to be the vehicle starter. He further stated that SERVCO did not have the part in stock and would have to order it from the Mainland. He stated that he should be receiving it on 17 November, and the vehicle would have to remain at SERVCO. On 17 Nov 2020 at 0928 hours, I was then contacted by service advisor and was told that the part had arrived awaiting a technician to start the repairs. At 1627 hours that same day, service advisor notified me that the technician would not be completed until sometime tomorrow (18 Nov 2020). On 18 Nov 2020 at approximately 1626 I received a call from service advisor notifying me that the repairs would not be completed today. At 1650 on the same date, I received another call from Manny Cabral now notifying me that the new ignition had been installed and upon testing the technician diagnosed further damage caused from the faulty ignition. He stated that a domino effect had occurred and there is damage to what I believe is some of the teeth on the belt that drives the transmission (FLYWHEEL). He will now have to order those parts which will now take another week and a half to be flown in from the mainland and installed. After installation this will then require another round of diagnostics to determine if any other damage has occurred through the domino effect. At this point I asked to speak to a manager as my level of concern was now highly elevated. A manager called me at 1703 hours on 18 Nov 2020, and I voiced my concern in that I purposefully purchased a brand-new vehicle to avoid these types of issues. He stated he understood but could only conduct repairs to the defective vehicle and provided me with a phone number to call (customer service) and voice my dissatisfaction with my defective vehicle.
My fuel pump went out only 6 months after having the truck. Driving in 1st gear when the power started cutting in and out. Came and went a couple times and then it really started to sputter and the truck lost complete power, idle was very weak and then the truck died. I could turn it back on, but it continued to idle weakly and then would die out again. Took it to the dealer since it's still under warranty.... They said it was the fuel pump.
