2005 toyota camry - seat belt retractors. at about 50,000 miles, the front passenger side seat belt on my camry would occasionally partially fold over at the retractor guide on the door post. at 75,000 miles, this now happens about 1/3 to1/2 of the time and i am starting to have the same problem with the belt on the passenger side. the belt is very difficult to straighten because the gap is too narrow to use a wooden tool and a metal tool such as a screwdriver would cut the belt. i have recently found that i can lower the movable attachment point to the lowest level, fully extend and hold the belt and then move the attachment point to its highest level. so far, this has generally removed the fold. obviously, this is very inconvenient for me and is very difficult for my wife who has arthritis. i have looked on line ( http://www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2005/toyota/camry/seat+belt) and see that this is a common safety problem with the camry. several web sites are now selling after market new and used replacement belts with instructions for installation. i am concerned that these belts would not function to automatically tighten in an collusion. according to on line reports, dealer replacement of the belts is quite expensive. *tr

The car started hesitating when accelerating. The vehicle started to lose power and all the lights came on. Check engine, pre-collision warning system malfunction, vehicle stability control system malfunction. Took my vehicle in and Toyota dealer said at first they couldn't figure out what was wrong. Then decided to replace the transmission. It has been nearly 2 months and still cant get the parts to fix my car. Excuse is Toyota is backlogged. Help.
Windshield wiper maximum speed is approximately half that of most other makes and models. In any adverse rain or snow conditions it is immediately noticeable how slow and inadequate the speed of the wipers are. In most cases you are forced to reduce speed to below average speed of vehicles around you, creating a hazard, or are forced to completely stop all together.

While driving on a street at approximately 25mph, I approached an intersection with a stop sign. I applied the brakes and lost power steering electric boost, abs system, stability control, and speedometer. I was driving in a straight line leading up to the intersection. There was no warning leading up to this loss of function. All systems remain non-functioning. Warning lights for steering, brakes, abs, traction control, and check engine light are illuminated. The dealer states that the abs actuator is faulty. The repair part not immediately available. The Toyota rep stated that there was no additional warranty at this time. The repair will be $3000. There are other reports of similar issues. This could be an unrecognized systemic safety hazard. My vehicle has not experienced slowdowns as others have reported when experiencing similar system failures. Uncommanded slowdowns in the heavy traffic in this region could result in a fatal accident. Request NHTSA immediately look into this issue as there are other reports of this issue. The dealer indicated that the abs parts are on back order which leads to the inference that abs actuators are being replaced while no NHTSA reports are being filed systems impacted includes, brakes, steering, speed control, stability control. Systems are basic safety systems.
