I had no problems with my 2015 Toyota Camry se that does not even have 90,000 miles on it, and then I started experiencing a shutter when driving between 25 and 50mph. It feels like you are driving over rumble sticks in the roadway, or an abnormal shaking. There is no warning light illuminated on my dashboard engine light. If I take my foot of the accelerator pedal the shutter/shaking would stop or if I pushed on the accelerator to go faster, it will come out of the shutter/shaking also. While I was getting an oil change at the Toyota dealership, I spoke with the Toyota customer service representative about the closed recall (t-sb-0312-17) for this issue on 2012-2014 Toyota Camry's while doing research on this issue and I was told that Toyota has no plans on doing another recall because they have fixed the problem and I would have to have the car fixed myself which could cost upwards of $3,000. 00 out of pocket. Why should a customer have to pay hundreds of dollars to have their car diagnosed for a known problem based on internet forums and other Toyota complaints. The engine light is not on, so a code may not even show up. I cannot afford to pay that, and Toyota should stand by their vehicles, stop giving customers the run around and do another recall as this is a big safety issue of faulty parts which can cause a major accident if the car loses power and stalls.
I truly loved my hybrid camry until June of 2015 when my oil light came on and my oil was low shortly after having my oil changed. I contacted my mechanic and he researched the problem and found a bulletin regarding problems with oil consumption. I began to have to check my oil once a week and had to add 1-2 quarts per week. In late 2015, Toyota sent out a notice regarding the oil consumption problem and offered oil consumption testing. I had my car tested and of course, my car was consuming oil. I was notified on 1-13-16 that my car was consuming oil and that I would be put on a waiting list for repairs. I continued to check and add oil to my car. I have now been told that parts are projected to be available in sept. 2016. In mid August, my engine light came on and I had to get my car to the closest mechanic as it was running poorly. I had to pull over on a busy highway. The codes showed the engine was misfiring and there problems with catalytic convertor. The mechanic stated that these problems were directly related to the excessive oil consumption and that the car is not operational and suggested we contact Toyota. My husband contacted corporate Toyota and was told that they are not responsible for anything other than replacing the pistons and rings. Both my husband and I commute to work, I am now without my vehicle (which I am still making payments to Toyota), still waiting on parts for repair (Toyota tells me to be patient, really???), facing charges to tow my car approx. 40 miles to the Toyota dealership for repair once parts available, and paying approx. $1000 to replace the catalytic convertors before my car will be operational. I am completely disappointed with Toyota for taking no responsibility for these related issues and the amount of time it has taken to address and solve these problems (still waiting). Will not purchase another Toyota vehicle.
My 2011 Toyota Camry le (2. 5l, 2wd, 4 cylinder, automatic transmission) has been experiencing problems with oil consumption. I have to add a quart of oil between oil changes (add 1 quart every 2000 miles). I'm using the recommended oil type (ow-20). Also, I'm experiencing loud rattling noises coming from the engine after cold start up. The noise is very loud and usually quiets down after driving for about 5 minutes or so. These issues are very common for people who own this particular model. I'm wondering if there was a recall that I perhaps may have missed or wasn't informed on. This is a well known issue for Toyota drivers. Something needs to be done to address these issues.
Had a seizure went off the road vehicle hit several trees and air bags did not deploy. Car is totaled. Drives head hit steering wheel and had head and facial damage. Was on city street turning to get on highway, he has been in icu for 3 days. Have police accident report. .
Tl the contact owns a 2000 Toyota Camry. When the vehicle was started, it failed to drive. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact called pappas Toyota at (636) 928-1212 (located at 10011 spencer rd, st petes, mo 63376) and was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 171,000.
engine operates with excessive oil usage. consumes/loses 1 quart of oil in 700 miles as of this filing date. i went to toyota service center at 12/2011 at 82,700 miles and they said no problem - 1 quart usage per 1000 miles is normal. also, door locks stopped working at 45,000 miles or so.
my 2002 toyota camry v6 xle has had a problem with stuttering as though the transmission, engine or computer is not working properly. four different toyota dealerships have looked at the car and their only statement is that if the engine light doesn't come on, they can't diagnose the problem. a now independent, former toyota mechanic did observe the problem and can't diagnose the problem with a computer. i was treated with arrogant denial by customer service at toyota and they blackmarked me on their system-wide computer history. i did learn that one problem was a recall publication 3 months before i bought my car that said the computer needed reprogrammed. none of these dealerships knew this and toyota's "roman" in customer service denied me any reimbursement about the reprogramming even though i was complaining about the engine stuttering or missing since about one month after new purchase to the present. this is the company denial and arrogance that the congress and investigators are coming up against. toyota just won't accept that there is a problem with my car that has persisted since a month after november 2002 purchase. now i get emails calling me "friend" from them wanting my business and service. i just want my car to run correctly and fear that my transmission, engine or computer program is a forerunner of the problems coming to light lately before congress. *tr
2000 camry, v6, le - check engine light came on and would not go off. was told it was probably because of filling the gas too much. the light stayed on over two years and i had to have the "sensor" replaced. it was only about five months ago when i had this replaced - and again the check engine light has came on and will not shut off. my car has almost 150,000 miles but the check engine light started having problems back around 50,000. i also had problems with backend clunking noises, and my front wheels clicked, and now the brakes squeak like crazy (and have for over two years). every time i have the car looked at, and it has been by the dealers and authorized repair stations, they are unable to fix the problem. as for the check engine light - it cost me over $400 for repair - and now after only about 5 months, i guess i'll have to pay it again. *tr
while driving on the highway, no warning lights or temperature lights went off, but a rattling sound occurred, prior to a "pop", which was the engine "blowing" up. this later was diagnosed as the blow up of rod #4, which tore through the engine block, with current repair cost estimated at $6000. the vehicle has received regular maintenance including oil changes within manufacturer guidelines. since this year and model was part of the "oil sludge" mess, i inquired why i never received any notice from the manufacturer of this potential for the engine to seize suddenly with no warning. they indicated my vin supposedly is not part of this campaign and since the mileage is 96000 miles, i am not covered. toyota totes a "quality" product, yet this is the first car in my life that has not made it to 140,000 miles or more. toyota to date has offered no assistance with no explanation of why the engine would suddenly die with so few miles. they indicate that this is not related to their oil sludge nightmare or engine design problems.*ak
i purchased a 2000 toyota camry ce (vin # 4t1bg22koyu962183) with a 4 cylinder engine, 5 speed manual transmission in february of 2000. friday, july 3, 2004 around 6:15am i was driving this car to work on rte 495 south in hudson, mass. without warning, i heard a pop under the hood and suddenly there was a loud explosion. white smoke was pouring out the rear and dark smoke from under the hood. i was driving 65 mph down a steep grade, in heavy traffic. i quickly began pull into the brake down lane. i applied the brakes but the brake pedal went to the floor and the clutch pedal was also to the floor. i slowly applied the parking brake and managed to get the car stopped. i had flames coming from under the hood and smoke coming into the drivers compartment. the traffic that was being blinded by the smoke and the road had guardrails so i could not pull completely off the road. i was concerned about getting out of the car into traffic but i had to get out quickly. i got away from the vehicle and called the authorities. by the time the fire trucks arrived the front of the camry was fully engulfed in flames. the car was a total loss. what occurred that morning hit me later. i realized that i could have been seriously injured or killed. thankfully i did not panic and cause a bad situation to be worse. i thought what if someone else had been driving this car, my pregnant daughter or my wife. what if a family with a child in a car seat, a new younger driver or an elderly person was driving? i consider myself lucky to walk away uninjured. someone else might have been another story. i dont know what caused this to occur, i took good care of this vehicle. my insurance company, travelers casualty company of connecticut, is handling the settlement. i thought it was important to let you know of this failure. i had found that there was an investigation into camry fires a while ago. please contact me if you need more details. william hovey. *nm
