🇺🇸 honda accord 2006 [Safety] Defect age: 4 Mileage: 50000

srs light came on and stayed on during a 500 mile trip after stopping and turning the engine back on. this meant the safety restraint systems such as seat belt tensioners and airbags would not function until srs problem is corrected. required a service call to dealer to order new srs unit and replace. not covered under any warranty. replacement will be done dec 1 so not sure if this will correct the problem. so must continue to drive car without safety restraint system functioning. *jb

🇺🇸 honda accord 2006 [Safety] Defect age: 3 Mileage: 50000

i was driving my 2003 honda accord ex-v6 on a highway when a passenger side curtain and side airbags deployed for no reason. there was no accident, no hit, no pothole. insurance company investigated and found no damages to the car that could trigger airbags; honda technicians after three days say they found a damage (dent?) on undercarriage that may have triggered the sensor. the car has 45500 mile on it. police was called on a scene but no report was filed. *jb

🇺🇸 honda accord 2006 [Electronics] Defect age: 3 Mileage: 75000

illumination in radio fails. not readily replaceable, not even by dealer. this failure also causes loss of illumination for thermostat and fan control on dash which creates a major distraction at night when trying to adjust these controls. this distraction could lead to loss of control, a crash, and/or serious injury. *nm

🇺🇸 honda accord 2006 [Other] Mileage: 25000

bought 2006 accord sedan in aug 2006. upon taking car home noticed 'orange peel' like distortion in windshield. took back to dealer. they first claimed there was no problem, finally after much arguing they admitted it was there and replaced it. new windshield is worse. it has wavy pattern in the glass making it difficult to see out of. went back to dealer, they saw it, they then called in factory rep. he says "they all have it" and refused to take action. factory line is that all honda's since 1990 have this problem. told him that's bull since this is the 3rd honda i've bought since 1990 and none of the others have this problem. neither does any other brand (toyota, volvo) cars that i own have it.*jb

🇺🇸 honda accord 2006 [Brake] Defect age: 1 Mileage: 50000

dt*: the contact stated while driving various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle had a longer braking distance. this occurred on two separate occasions. the vehicle was driven to the dealer, where the problem could not be duplicated. updated 2/12/2007 - the rear brakes had to be replaced although they had less than 5000 miles in them. the consumer feels that the rear brake are doing most of the braking which is causing the vehicle to slide rather than stop. the dealer told the consumer that they think his driving habits are the cause of the brakes wear so quickly. when rolling down the right or left front windows the consumer heard a grinding noise. the technician lubricated the window glass runs. *nm

🇺🇸 honda accord 2006 [Safety] Defect age: 5 Mileage: 175000

i have a 2001 honda accord. my srs light has been on and my horn does not work. according to nhtsa defect investigation #pe05043, "in march 2006, honda issued a service bulletin (06-009) to extend the warranty on srs illumination and opds issues to 10 years or 150,000 miles " my current mileage is 86,000 miles and we have owned the vehicle for less than 10 years. i did not receive a notification letter and when i called honda sf today to inquire, they told me that the service was not covered under warranty. if my vehicle meets the criteria specified in your report, why is the dealership not honoring their warranty extension? today, the maintenance dept at sf honda suggested that the horn was connected to the airbag electronic sensors and that if i wanted to fix the problem, that no part of service would be covered under warranty. i understand that in investigation #pe05043, you have not tested to see if this defect is a valid safety issue. are there any current tests that compare the safety standards between having a functioning airbag and seat belt verses just a functioning seat belt? i don't think it's right that i should pay $1500 to fix this. i should not worry about getting into a crash especially if the car should still be covered under the warranty extension. anyway, to sum it up. 1. i want honda to honor the warranty extension per your investigation and i want honda to repair my vehicle for free. 2. i want you to investigate to find out why honda is not honoring the warranty extension for myself and possibly for other people. 3. i want you to investigate the safety implications of this faulty srs system and take appropriate action to prevent serious injury to current honda owners. thank you for your time and commitment to safety. *jb
