I have a 2021 Hyundai Sonata SEL with Convenience Package (standard radio system) and the antenna that receives signal for the XM Satellite radio is weak. I drive the same routes to and from work as I did with my previous vehicle (Chryster 200) and I constantly lose radio signal and the "weak" sign flashes on the radio. With my previous car I never lost signal but with this 2021 Sonata SEL I lose XM Radio signal constantly. Very annoying.
Annoying loud whistling wind noise appears after 35-45 mph, especially on a highway with 65+ mph. It feels like it's always a hurricane outside the vehicle. Seem like there's a bad rubber/plastic molding or wrong side windows dimensions, because it sounds like windows are always a little bit open.
Check engine light came on first week September. However car still drove normally. Fault code showed fuel pump misbehaving and was replaced. Then mid-September car would put its nose down and act fuel starved. Getting up our numerous hills would slow car to about 30mph.Restart and all was well. Then without warning problem reoccured.Dealer could find no fault codes. Two days later, while driving suddenly all orange warning lights came on as well as the red parking brake warning. This was erratic but generally happening within two miles of a restart.Dealer ran fault code on each warning light and determined that a vacuum issue was the common thread. There is a device under the rear seat which handles the vacuum. It was evidently not torqued correctly at factory and had worked its way out enough to cause loss of vacuum.Merely tightening the bolts cured the problem! This is my fourth Sonata and the only one that that has any issue above a brake light in my 2013.
I purchased a 2020 Sonata Ltd 1.6 Turbo in March 2020. Since day one the engine has had a burning smell and I’m wondering how many other Sonata owners are dealing with this. I’ve taken the car in 5 times. They’ve done pressure checks for leaks, reached out to other Hyundai service centers and gone over the car with a fine tooth comb without finding the problem. I reached out to Hyundai Consumer Affairs who basically told me to live with it. So I’m asking, if there are any other 2020 Sonata owners with this problem, don’t let the service center tell you the smell will go away because it won’t. Call their Consumer Affairs at 1-800-633-5151 and lodge a complaint. I paid almost $40k for a car that I can’t even park in my garage because the smell is so bad and Hyundai wont address my problem. Also, if you’re thinking of buying a Sonata be sure to turn it on, raise the hood and put your nose down near the radiator. If you smell that burning coolant, WALK AWAY!! So so disappointed in Hyundai.
Brand new 2020 Sonata Limited (delivered end of May 2020). While driving on I-26 near Sparanburg S.C., when braking in stop and go traffic - rather violent shaking happened of front end/steering wheel in my hand on multiple occasions.
click to see larger images Okay. I am not sure if Hyundai is trying to cover it up or not. I know exactly when this happened. I was driving to hospital around 6am and I had absolutely no warning signs on dashboard. I always check my dashboard before I go somewhere. I arrived at the hospital and parked my car in hospital parking area. When I parked it was like indoor parking lot and there were many cars around my car where I parked. I come back from hospital approximately 2 hours after. I turn the engine on. I see a warning sign for Blind Spot Collision Warning Sign (BSC). I had no sign of anyone hitting my car and I also have videocamera that records after I park my car just in case if someone hits my car it records. No sign, No dent of someone touching my car. I take it to Hyundai because I thought it was some kind of error from Hyundai company. After they diagnose, they say a rodent chewed my blind spot collision wires. Well if you look at the picture, how the heck a rodent would chew the wires and hard plastic cover that was protecting wires and 4 of the wires in 2 hours. When I look at the picture, I just can not believe that is a rodent. Maybe it was burnt or something or maybe it was a rodent. This feels like Hyundai is trying to cover it up or something. Even if it was rodent, warranty should absolutely cover the damage because I read from somewhere that Hyundai uses soy based wiring coat. Heard company was sued from using soy based. But I'm not sure why rodents would still chew that if they weren't using soy based coating. If anyone can actually tell me by looking at the photo that i uploaded if its burnt or really rodents chewed it up. I will take the post down. But even then I want to complain that rodents can chew Hyundai wires. I did not fix it yet because it would cost me 1000 dollars to repair for the damage and warranty would not cover that.
Category: Potential for fatality. Headlights on low beam have a blind spot approximately 30 feet in front of vehicle on drivers side that measures 5 to 10 feet wide by approximately 15 feet long. Secondary blind spot to right of first blind spot measures approximately 3 to 6 feet by approximately 15 feet. These blind spots blind the operator to oncoming and side traffic of both vehicles and pedestrians. Currently only fix is to drive with high beams, which violates law. No repair has been affected by Hyundai (No recall or TSB noted). Request all 2019 Sonata owners submit complaint to NHTSA to effect a mandatory recall so this hazardous condition will be resolved.
My car makes an intermittent yet frequent whistling sound. It sounds just like a tea kettle whistling. It doesn't matter if the car is parked, stopped, or driving; the whistling will always sound the same. It is very strange indeed. Is anyone else having this same problem?
2018 Hyundai Sonata will not start when the temperature goes below 10° or colder. Engine won't even turn over. It acts like the battery is dead but the battery when tested is fine. When the temp is warmer, the car starts right up. Dealership can not find anything wrong. Very frustrating.
Below zero temps and car would not start. Completely dead. Had to have car towed to dealer and find an alternate means of getting to work and back all week.
