Computer check code is 0171, bank 1 system to lean.most of mechanics want me change the oxygen sensor cost more then $700 with 2 upstream and 1 down stream. I doubt this is the problem. finally, found MAF sensor dirty,after cleaning up, all problem solved.

Of all the luxury vehicles available when I purchased, I chose Lexus above all others due to the supposed quality and low required maintenance from 3-6 years. (The length I planned on keeping the car.)I am furious that into my 6 years (soon after the warranty expired), I spent 50% of the value on the car on a new (used) engine. What's almost is bad is that I traded a 73,000 mileage engine for a 100k! What?!My husband is due for a new car this summer and I'll be replacing this car when the engine warranty is up in December. NEITHER will be a Lexus. A couple of sales won't cost Lexus anything but I will spend the rest of my life telling anyone that will listen that Lexis is not the way to go!!

Bought this nice used RX 300 from the Mercedes Benz dealer in Naperville and saw the display that said "disk not found" which I took as getting a CD out of the owners manual and inserting it. The M-B salesman said, "oh yeah that is what it probably is." Turns out I learn that the NAV system isn't reading the CD that is integral to the unit and the whole thing needs to be replaced. The biggest problem is the display shows the same message and overrides any information on the display like what the car is doing (temp, fan operation, compass, radio stations, and vital information. I was told this is a common problem with factory NAV systems in Lexus' and Acura's. Don't ya just love it If anyone has any other solution to override the display it is very welcome.

First major problem I have had with the car but it is major and I see many have been replaced earlier than mine. I am diligent about changing the oil - that may be why mine lasted longer. Nevertheless, never will buy another RX300 or 350 again given the issues with all years transmissions.

Early transmission failure on early model Lexus RX300 from 1997 to 2003. I own a 2002 RX300 and the transmission failed at about 160,000 miles. It happened with no notice causing my engine to slow on the road and then was rear ended by another vehicle. I seem to be a lucky one as I read thousands of Lexus RX300 owners transmissions needed to be replaced between 70,000 and 90,000 miles. Lexus/Toyota has done nothing to admit their is a problem with the transmission in this car and in fact denied any problems to myself. It is costing owners of these vehicles to outlay between $3,000 to $6,000 for the transmission to be replaced. All you need to do is go on the club Lexus forum for Lexus owners and type in transmission problems for RX300 and you will see thousands of owners complaining. Please do everything in your power to make Lexus/Toyota acknowledge the problem and issue a recall and reimbursement to those owners of these cars. Thank you.

While parked in the driveway overnight and secured, the following morning I came out to find the windows down, the sunroof opened, and doors unlocked. I check the RX300 every night before going to bed to see that it is secure. I don't understand what could have happened. Would a power surge caused by a faulty circuit contribute to this?

The transmission gear select perfectly from gear 1 to gear 3 but wouldn't switch to gear 4 and 5. It will be at gear 3 and be shouting. I really need help on what I can do for my gear to select from 1 to 5 perfectly. Thanks.

I bought this car from original owner at 132,000 back in 2016. The car hesitated to go into 2nd gear shortly after I bought it until it failed a couple years later. got transmission completely rebuilt 2018 for 3600.00. The mechanic said that this transmission had been rebuilt before. Four months after i got tranny rebuilt, it started doing the same exact thing. Fast forward to 2021. I'm still driving this car after only putting 22,000 miles on new transmission. It turns out theres an issue with the solenoid valves in the valve body that is a result from a crappy design by manufacturer. The car's under warranty still after three years of second rebuild. I'm just gonna drive it until it fails again. I can't afford to get a new or used car. Thats the only issue I've had with car. Other than that I really enjoy driving it when transmission is running right. It doesn't always hesitate to go into 2nd gear.

Transmission failed at 14500 miles and cost me $3,000. to replace it. This must be a defect as others have had the same issue. I am really shocked as I have always sung praises about Toyota and how good their work is their auto's normally last forever and need few if any repairs. I would have felt better if Toyota had done a recall to replace the Transmission with original parts. The SUV is running but I do not have the confidence I did have in driving it. I feel that the replacement Transmission is not as good as the original. As I never received any word from Toyota it has made me rethink purchasing another Lexus.
