This is very annoying as when I get back with groceries I need to get very close to the car 1-2ft to open it. Sometimes it works perfect with a great range but when this happens makes me mad, as it is a month old car and a problem that shouldn't exist.

click to see larger images Tiguan ignition will turn itself off without even pressing the key-less ignition button. It will show up on the drivers screen that it is turning itself off. Only happens when vehicle is stopped on the road and brake is fully pressed. It has randomly happened at stop lights or stop sign and the car is in "drive position", not in "park". I then quickly place vehicle in park, hit the start button with brake pedal pressed and car starts again, then throw it into drive position again. It annoys the hell out of me and people behind are honking for me to move. During one of the occurrences I was on incline in "drive position", and started to press accelerator and did not move forward, then my display quickly showed that the ignition turned off and car went rolling backwards. Had to re-apply brakes and place in park and restart the ignition button again. Glad no one was behind me.

The car play technology in this vehicle is a pain in the ass. If you don't directly connect your phone to the car by cord it seems to work fine. However, the apple car play technology in this car is at times is not worth even using. I use my car play on a daily basis even several times a day. I rely on it for work and almost every time I have to mess with it to get it to work properly. For example, if someone calls me and I do not hang up the call, the speaker in the car gets stuck on the "telephone" (even if you unplug your phone from the car) and you won't be able to hear anything out of the speakers AT ALL. The only way to fix this is to call yourself and hang up through the car. I also have issues where I plug my phone in and the music says it is playing however, the volume will say it is muted. The only way to fix this is to keep unplugging your phone from the car and exiting the app from your phone and replugging it back in (eventually it goes back to normal). There are several issues with the GPS. Sometimes when you try to use the GPS app you can be driving on the right road but it will recalculate and become very confused. Especially if you enter a city or somewhere with a lot of streets close together. The only way to fix this is to unplug the phone from your car and follow the GPS on your phone. This is extremely aggravating. Also, sometimes the GPS will also be telling you directions out of speakers but the images on the screen are not updating. The last issue I have with this is when using the phone. This issue just recently started when I took my car to fix the recalls. If I have my phone plugged into the car while on the phone, the sound will randomly start to muffle and go in and out during the conversation. However, if you immediately unplug the phone from the car, the phone call won't do have any issues. It also has no issues if bluetooth connected to the car. It seems to have the most issues when directly plugged into the car. I know a few people that have the same make, model, and year vehicle as I and have the same issues. We have all tried to have these issues addressed and the dealers blame it on the phone. The successful function of the phone without direct connection to the car is full proof that it is a connection issue within the car or poor quality programming. If this is an important function for you, you may want to think twice before purchase.

The Adjusting distance / gap is set to "far" . It happens like 2 out of 10 times, that the car ahead was slowing down and my car was supposed to start adapting, but it was speeding. If I wasn't paying attention I could have been in a crash and possible death or injury.

The Bluetooth microphone doesn't work with any of the phones connected to the vehicle. It may be related to a navigation system problem I'm also having, or vice versa. I have a service appointment next week, so I will follow up afterwards.Update from Jun 18, 2021: VW did an in-depth diagnosis (required by VWAG). The culprit was the vehicle Car Net module, which is essentially the vehicle's data hub. This caused the Bluetooth to become inoperative and GPS to be off by hundreds of miles. It also caused the remote start function to be intermittent. The dealership had to perform a series of tests due to the high cost of the bad module ($3,500), which thankfully was covered under the warranty. No issues have arisen since the repair.

🇺🇸 volkswagen tiguan 2021 [Engine] Defect age: 3 Mileage: 25000

So just like others on here I got an oil change at July 16 2021, 23,229KM on the car. The oil light came on at approximately 25,600KM and I added 1.5 liters of oil to the engine. I looked for leaks or drips, nothing. The engine is clean as it should be for only 20,000Km on it. Then again at approximately 26500 or so it (oil light) came on again. I added approximately another 1.0 liters of oil. I let it go for a day or two then checked the level and it was still low. So I added about .5 liter to top it up. Took it to local VW store where I bought it from and the usual talk: it is normal for oil to be used they said .5 liter for 1000km. So I went 4000Km since my oil change and put in 3L of oil. Something is not right. I have never had to add that much oil to any car I have owned. I am waiting on the 1000KM test to see where it goes from there. I will add another incident and just copy this text. This is the second incident all in one.

I am tired of all the recalls. I just had the module replaced for the air bag and I have a seat belt constantly dinging and when fastened is very loose. Thought it was fixed but no...all my safety features are gone....and I have no ACC. Frustrated. Please recall for all this.

Blocked drains caused interior water buildup in spare tire well and open storage behind wheel wells. Disgusting mildew smell and water damaged carpets and flooring components. This is a recall. After Dealer service to repair, which is a bad fix for this problem, car should be put on a list to have drains cleared periodically. Sad part is I don't see many VW's being ordered by the dealer with sunroofs. My service manager where I leased a 2019 and bought a 2020 was great. He represented his dealership well and supported us as a consumer well. My thanks to him and the service dept. I am a 45 year VW fan and will head back to VW in Danbury for my next two VW's.

I've noticed a fairly significant vibration during braking. With 5,800 miles on the vehicle, this really shouldn't be happening. Is it possibly rotor warping? I'm hoping the dealer won't feed me some line like "it's just the ABS" or some other line of crap. I'll follow up next week after the service appointment.Update from Jun 18, 2021: VW checked it during the Car Net module diagnosis and stated that they didn't "feel" any vibrations during braking. I am unsure if they checked the runout with a dial caliper, but since I have one and the wheels need a wheel-off, thorough cleaning, I will most likely attach it to the rotors to check the runout myself and report it to the dealer if I find significant runout.

After having the VW Tiguan for three weeks and 400 miles, I noticed oil spots all over the driveway. Looked underneath and saw oil dripping. Brought it to the dealer and they confirmed the rear main seal was bad. They replaced it under warranty.
