A/C went out shortly after car bought new from dealershipAC computer chip went out and it was connected to the engine so car turned itself off, had to tow it! Cost me 300.00$, its also connected to the climate controller system so still have no defrost or AC. Mechanic said would cost to replace chip, $1200.00. So, of course still not fixed. Had to have mechanic bypass the engine so the car would run again!!! Hyundia refused to help fix again!!!
click to see larger images clear coat peeling off rear bumper, side vents, door handlesThis seems to be common with Hyundai cars in general. I have noticed many other Hyundai vehicles with peeling clear coat. Obviously they are using a defective or substandard quality clear coat. I am 63 years old and I have owned many vehicles in my life, but I have never owned a vehicle where the clear coat peeled off. I think Hyundai owners should consider a class action suit against Hyundai. This issue destroys the resale value and is costly to repair. I would be hesitant to purchase another Hyundai not because of mechanical issues but because of the possibility of having to have it repainted within a few years.
It's horrible - I've done everything from fix any vacuum leaks to throttle control valve, air idle valve, everything. I'm trying o2 sensors now, I hope they work.
click to see larger images Well I bought this car last year from a dealership, and I didn't know it hadn't had any repairs to it, i just had to replace a flex pipe and replace one of the 2 exhaust flanges to a straight pipe on my 2005 Hyundai Tib gs. The cost was 180 dollars, and now it has a cracked exhaust manifold where the weld is. I can't pay to get it repaired or replaced. I heard that the 1999-2003 models had recalls for cracked exhaust manifolds, so I'm not sure if that would even apply to my 05 Tib.
Linkage bolt was recalled, never got that information due to manufacturer defect. Bolt came off with two warranties active, and the Hyundia dealerships refused to honor the warranty . called main Hyundia office in California, they told me tough luck that they didn't have to honor any warranty on the car and refused to help. Bolt came off while driving barely got it in the driveway. Had no transmission, gears, is a 5 speed manual transmission. Since no one would help me while still making payments an insurance on it sat in driveway for over 6 months. Told the credit union to come an get it. They said didn't want it. Car sat, until I had money for a private mechanic agreed to look at it. Had to drop out the transmission to get to bolt, that's when I learned they put on the wrong bolt , it wasn't a locking bolt should have been. I had to pay out of pocket 2,800.00, to fix it!!!!!! Mad, will never buy from Hyundia again and I've been telling everyone I know not to. Never got the recall notice and could have caused a fatal accident!!!!!! Still pissed!!!!!
This is the SAME EXACT problem that has happened to the 2006-2008 Sonatas. The Sonatas got a recall but the Tiburon still has yet to get one. Why is that? It's all the same batch of cars. The problem is the bad seat belt buckles/sensors. Just recall the cars already and fix the problem before you get sued for an issue having to do with the problem.
THE HYUNDAI CLUTCH IS A ENGINEERING DISASTER. WHY THE HELL ARE SO MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING? I HAD A HARD TIME GETTING INTO 3RD GEAR AND REVERSE. SOMETIMES I FELT THE CLUTCH ENGAGING WHEN I WAS NOT EVEN TOUCHING THE PEDAL! THE CAR VIBRATED MOST OF THE TIME AND IT WAS SO LOUD I HAD TO TURN UP THE STEREO JUST TO NOT HEAR THE NOISE. IT OFTEN LOCKED UP WHERE THE ENGINE STALLED.I HAVE DRIVEN A MANUAL TRANSMISSION ALL MY LIFE, I PREFER IT OVER AN AUTOMATIC. HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR IS WHAT I DO FOR A LIVING, I KNOW HOW TO USE A CLUTCH AND SHIFT GEARS. HELL I LEARNED HOW TO DRIVE ON A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. IF YOU'RE TELLING ME THAT IT'S MY FAULT AND DO NOT KNOW HOW TO OPERATE A STICK SHIFT THEN HOW COME I NEVER BURNED UP A CLUTCH OR TRANSMISSION IN ALL THE TIME AND ALL THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CAR'S ,TRUCKS AND MANY TYPES OF EQUIPMENT I OPERATE FOR A LIVING AND NEVER EVER BLEW A CLUTCH OR TRANSMISSION ? MY CAR IS AT THE DEALER NOW AND SERVICE TOLD ME THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THIS CRAPPY ENGINEERING AND WANT TO CHARGE ME $1,200 FOR REPAIRS NOT TO MENTION THE $85 BUCKS FOR THE TOWING. YOU'RE FLAT OUT TRYING TO RIP US OFF BECAUSE YOUR CRAP IS NOT ADEQUATE FOR THE AMERICAN MARKET. SELL THAT SH>T TO THE NORTH KOREANS. LITTLE ROCKET MAN WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR BULL SH>T. GOD FORGIVE YOU IF SOMEONE DIES BECAUSE OF YOUR NEGLIGENCE. DO SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR GREED AND FIX THE DAMN PROBLEM.
WHY THE HELL DIDN'T ANY ENGINE LIGHTS WARN ME THAT I HAD A PROBLEM? I WOULD HAVE HAD IT CHECKED OUT BUT NO SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT'S WARNED ME OF THE PROBLEM!! A SIMPLE STUPID LIGHT TO TELL ME. FIX MY CRAPPY CAR, GIVE ME A RECALL BECAUSE YOU COULD NOT OR WOULD NOT TELL EVERYONE YOU HAD A COMPUTER GLITCH!! WELL HYUNDAI YOU JUST EMAIL ME AS SOON AS YOU GOT YOUR SH>T TOGETHER!! MY HARMONIC BALANCER SHREDDED CAUSING MY CAM TO GET WASTED. DEALER SAID $1200 TO FIX PLUS THE $150 FOR THE TOW. TAKE YOUR KOREAN CRAP BACK AND SELL IT TO THE NORTH!!
The day after I bought my used Hyundai I noticed that there was a problem shifting to 3rd or reverse. I found out this Is common with my car.I have the car at the dealer so I asked them to check for all recalls and fix them. Now service called me and didn't mention anything about fixing any recalls. Have not picked up my car yet. Anyone have any suggestions? Would really appreciate any advice.
clutch went out 3 times-this is a problem with the car This car was bought brand new right from the showroom. RPMs would go up to 3000 when stopped at lights. Reported to Hyundai & they could not find an issue. Needed new clutch in 2007 covered under warranty, however, fly wheel cost $2600. + rent-a-car which they were supposed to provide but didn't have any more cars. There reasoning is you need to schedule an appointment. The second time clutch needed to be replaced in 2008. Very jerky movements. Hyundai had to contact Japanese engineers for solution. Third clutch had to be replaced after warranty. I have owned many manual vehicles & never needed a clutch so it's not me. Engine seized due to some part breaking off and it was not the timing belt. Out of warranty and another engine was put in April 2016. Problems with rims causing tires to deflate constantly. Biggest problem with this car is a malfunctioned clutch. This is what caused the flywheel to be replaced at $2600. When the clutch went out again and they did not know how to repair it I should have had a refund of $2600. They sent me home with a clutch when put in first gear causing very jerky movements thrushing passengers to go forward including myself and I have a very bad back. There should be a class action lawsuit on the clutch which causes the flywheel to be replaced. This is very expensive and 100,000 bumper to bumper warranty should include the flywheel but it doesn't. After 3 clutches and problems that Hyundai couldn't fix without contacting Japanese engineers, this should be considered a lemon. RPMs revving on their own while stopped is something that never should occur. They could not find the problem at the time which I feel was caused by a faulty clutch system.
