the seats in the 2012 honda crosstour i just leased are horrific. they are extremely uncomfortable and the positioning encourages poor postural habits and cannot be tolerated for any length of time. i took my car on a 3500 mile business trip and was crippled the entire time and almost couldn't drive home. i've put a large sum of $ down to lower my monthly payments and am now stuck with a car that's excruciating to drive. i've owned honda's in the past and was very happy with their longevity, fuel economy and comfort overall. i never this coming-shame on you-honda! i've also driven a 2012 pilot (for 4.5 hours) and they were similar in design only not quite as uncomfortable-but still unacceptable! every attempt i've made to bolster, pad, lift, release or otherwise "fix" with padding, pillows, foam etc. has been unsuccessful. while padding with minimal foam, it raises me in a position where my view is obstructed and my head hits the ceiling. i'm only 5'7" and not large. i have also enlisted the help of a local upholsterer to assist me but we've reached the end of ideas to assist me. *tr
please, please back off on your head rest requirements for safety. please allow the consumer to choose the position of the head rest. not only honda, but ford, gm, chrysler, all manufacturers are creating very painful car seats since 2009 due to this awful headrest requirement. seatbelts are a law, but i choose to wear them. motorcycle helmets are no longer a law, but i choose to wear them. now let me choose my headrest position. i think these new designs are going to cause far more injuries and insurance claims from people having their heads cocked forward, in a forced improper posture. i had migraines due to my headrest before i resolved this issue in my car by making modifications. i sit with proper posture and my head is forced forward. the only choice i had was to sit improperly in order to try to avoid the terrible discomfort this new law forces on me. please change this law. *tr
i bought the car used with approximately 23000 miles; it is still under the factory warranty. i had read about other owners' descriptions of "shutter" from the drive train between 20-27 mph under moderate acceleration, a slight shaking felt through the car body, and noticed mine displayed this same condition. i took the car to a local dealer on oct 30, 2012, explained the problem i was experiencing, and mentioned that acura had issued a tsb concerning a similar situation. the mechanic stated this tsb did not apply to honda cars. nonetheless, when the dealer returned the car, they had applied a transmission controller software update; i do not know if this is the same update issued by acura. they also turned the front rotors and recommended tire balancing. i had them balanced immediately. my family and i took a 4 hour road trip over the thanksgiving holiday, consisting of mostly interstate travel. i noticed the "shutter" getting worse, especially once the car was warm, still between 20-27 mph. i also noticed a slight vibration above 70 mph. i dismissed this high speed vibration as a tire balance issue, but i see other owners' complain about this condition, as well. the shutter continued, and on dec 8, i noticed that once it was warm, the car had started to vibrate throughout, at any speed. the transition to this condition is most noticeable while driving the car while cold, allowing it to warm up, and feeling the change in overall ride feel from cold to warm, not felt through the wheel, throttle pedal, or shifter, but throughout the chassis and body. on dec 10, i took the car to another dealer, closer to my workplace, concerned that something was broken. the dealer representative stated they could not duplicate the problem. i felt it while she drove it, but she stated she did not. she said the local honda representative said no tsbs or recalls applied. *tr

tl* the contact owns a 2012 honda crosstour. the contact stated that while parked, he noticed a fire had erupted from the dashboard area. the fire department was not called because the failure had occurred overnight while the vehicle was parked and seemingly, had extinguished independently. the contact did not notice the failure until it had already occurred. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technician advised that there had been a failure with the wiring in the console. the exact cause of the fire was undetermined. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 22,982. *tr updated 03/12/13*lj updated 03/27/2013 *js
note: this in reference to the honda crosstour which is not listed in your drop down . the head restraint is badly proportioned--with any adjustment of the seat or restraint it forces my forward and down--this was not noticeable in the short test drive but only during a longer drive --after a fairly short time i developed a very painful neck and it got worse with time.. i have contacted the dealer but they did not offer any solution to the problem other than to adjust the seat. tried that until i had exhausted all possible positions with no acceptable relief, they did admit there have been "a few" such complaints. i also called american honda--the reception was friendly and the person i talked to was concerned but stated she was not aware of any problems as i described. after some research i find this has been an ongoing problem foe some time and includes prior model years and other models. i do believe a rather minor modification could provide the relief needed and still be within the 50mm clearance that is allowed. *tr
while parking, in spot, with foot on brake, engine started to rev and i felt car wanting to move forward. i put the car in park and checked to make sure my foot was not touching the gas. it was not. my wife was in the car with me and asked me what had happened. i wasn't sure. a couple of months later my wife was driving approx. 25 mph when she heard and felt the engine rev and the car started racing forward. she slammed on the brake and pulled the car over and shut it off. luckily no one was in front or behind her during this occurrence. my wife and i feel the car is not safe to drive. the dealer has "checked" it out and can not find anything wrong with the car. *tr
